1st pick
#19067348 - 11/01/13 12:27 AM (10 years, 2 months ago) |

I went out picking shrooms today for the 1st time and saw 2 types. 1 was the type I had seen online and expected, dark, dome shaped ones with long stalks and the other were white and had upturned heads.
Are the white ons just normal mushrooms? I left some because I thought they might just be undergrown or normal mushrooms, but also wanted to pick some just to see if they're real.
The pick

The dark ones (Are these ok to eat?)

The white ones that I am unsure about

Is taking mushrooms just eating them?
Thanks.

Uhh... Those dont look bueno. Zero chance I wouldn't eat either.
Also, your pictures are very low resolution and it is near impossible to identify these mushrooms.
It sounds like you have a lot more research to do about mushroom hunting before you should even consider eating something you find.
Welcome to the forums!

Maybe Panaeolus foenisecii for the ones on the right? Better pictures in better light would be nice.

Hatss, we are trying to ID from those characters in the many thousands of mushrooms that make each distinctive, wherever possible, and it is generally necessary to see clear photos if we are to stand any chance. I can play a guessing game, squinting at each shot thinking what it might be, but you don't want to make potentially dangerous choices based on a guess!

Sorry for the bad pictures yesterday, my iPod wasn't avalible so I had to take them with my webcam. Here are some better ones of the two.
Under the white one

The top of the white one

(the dark ones are really fragile and the head fell off one when I tried to pick a slug of it. The bottom of the dark one, the stalk was really long

You should never eat a mushroom you have not positively identified. This should go without saying...
Your photos are not nearly clear enough for an identification - even your "better" ones. Please use common sense before you hurt yourself in the future!

Don't do that. You have a genuine developmental disorder if you continue to insist on first eating unidentified mushrooms and then attempting to justify it to us.
Granted, I believe you are trolling us, but if you are not, you are going to poison yourself as an eventual inevitability, and eating unidentified, white gilled, terrestrial mushrooms is a particularly efficient road to that end.

You have to eat a certain amount of fruit/veg every day to remain healthy.
It's to do with vitamins, yes.

I'm not trolling... I'll leave the white ones, but I hope that I can find some good ones later. I'm not justifying anything, it was stupid but I wouldn't care if I died... I just want to trip but nobody sells acid around here (I would rather do that for my 1st time doing harder drugs than weed)

Start here
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/12412007
Go to the state you live in research the ones near you. Do more than look at pictures though. Habitat, sporeprint color stuff like that. Then go look for them where they are. Then post clear photos here. Borrow a camera if you have to.

It's a pity that mushrooms aren't fruit or vegetables then isn't it.
To add to what everyone else is saying, you shouldn't eat any mushroom that you aren't 100% sure of the ID, the risk of death by poisoning is just to great.

Nope.
I have more of them. I went picking in a different place, it was a park that is well maintained (cut and people walk on it a lot) and it was raining all day. I'll show some pictures. (Ask if you need more, tommorow I might be able to get my hands on a good camera instead of my iPod, but I will try to explain the shrooms to you to go with the pictures.
#1 Very sticky (might just be the dew from rain all day or something) and left a mark on my laptop from the stuff on it. Very waxy feel... White mushroom with a tint of blue/grey on the top. Straight stem that is also white. Slightly upturned. Grew in a small circle in groups of 2. These are kind of bendy and don't break as easily as the other ones. They measure at half a millilitre without stalks, 2.5mm with stalks.

(oops the green is a blade of grass that stuck to it) (**I am making a print of this one, but i figured that I would leave it overnight)
#2 (I think these are just undergrown shrooms) Very small and very white. Extremely fragile and dome shaped. They measure at half a millimetre without stalks, 2.9mm with stalks included.
(look how semitransparent they are :o )

Typically, if they're mostly white, they're not active and may be deadly. go to the top of the page, Mushroom Info > Hunting Mushrooms > Mushroom Locations, find the species native to your area. Write them down. Then Mushroom Info > Hunting Mushrooms > psilocybin mushrooms and look up the ones you wrote down. Focus on the ones with "*" rather than "**" or "***" because they are more rare.
The pics you posted are not active.

Until you can find away to make your pics better,I wouldn't bother posting anymore mushrooms. They are way to blurry for identification.
