Bridgesii Trichocereus Achuma Cacti
    #19067264 - 11/01/13 12:13 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

So I'm considering purchasing this, but I have a couple questions.
I live in the Midwest and temperatures/sunlight is low, will the cactus still grow in these conditions?

You will almost certainly be able to grow this species...but you will likely need to bring it indoors during the winter and keep it nice and dry.

With low enough temps (50-60f ish), cacti will go into dormancy and won't be requiring light, but providing some wouldn't cause harm. Withhold water from September to March (approx, depends on your local conditions) and let them sleep, it does no harm, indeed they appreciate it. A slightly chilly windowsill is a great place to let them overwinter. Or a garage. Or a basement. It's all down to the temps, and keeping them dry.

Late Fall-spring, I bring mine indoors
As mentioned, they go dormant when cool...  Don't need sun or water

I have mine inside and Don't water them but Once or twice a winter

Some folks put theirs in the garage if insulated...

Bring them out in the spring when warm and no more frost
Becareful not to sun burn them when you do bring them out

What is the mid-west? I live in Colorado(greatest place on Earth) and try do exceptional here. Upwards of 2ft a season or year? I can't remember. Regardless, I LOVE Achuma! It's an amazing plant and a wonderful guide, I highly suggest growing it.
