Amanita muscaria identification northern Michigan

Hello everyone, I'm new to the shrooming thing. Listened to a podcast that brought up the shrooming experience. Now I'm very interested. I found some at my cabin this past weekend. I have read that even if they are amanitas it's important to correctly identify it and prepare it. I'm using my phone so I can't add the photos at the moment. Photos are posted on my profile. I am very new so I took a handful of photos. Looks like it has the veil which is good. Growing next to horse pasture under some evergreens. Cow pasture next door. Northern lower peninsula Michigan (the pinky). Thanks in advance

Definitely looks like A. Muscaria but wait for a TI to chime in here.

I didn't do a spore print. The gills seemed crowded. And white. Stem wasn't super bulbous but I didn't pick any either so I don't really know. Some where really big. There is a pic of one next to my phone. To give you a size comparison.
Also thanks perky smiles. That was a really fast response.

Third photo has a broken stem in there. Also I used the auto correct orientation which made them all sideways. Sorry

maybe var. guessowii? Yup we're pretty fast here. I'm a noob too so wait for a TI otherwise known as a trusted identifier. In the future pull one up and look at the vulva (the sac at the bottom) and look for concentric rings from the vulva around the base of the stipe (stem).

Just FYI ALL Amanita spore prints are white. But you should still ALWAYS get a print. If you have a microscope you could tell a lot more.

Re you sure of the species? I'm still waiting for an official identification. Perkysmiles said I still needed one. And if I'm gonna prepare them I had better be sure. Haha

I see you are a trusted identifier. Yay. So are you identifying it as an amanita muscaria? Which is trippy and not lethal if prepared correctly.

Yes,that is one of the muscaria variants but they are not like psilocybin mushrooms. They have a different effect and you should read up on that before ingesting.

I find these to be a little hard to place between two muscaria varieties, though the distinctions are not particularly important beyond academic interest.
The incomplete floccose rings here certainly suggest muscaria var. persicina and I'd be happy enough to call it that given the above consideration.
In any event, should you choose to eat them, the effects are not psychedellic in nature, as stated before my post, but could perhaps be described with a little accuracy as chasing liquor with a bunch of dramamine.
I used to like them a lot, but I do not any longer, or at least not with any frequency.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

I dried, ground, and made a tea with them. After 30 minutes or so, I felt mild nausea. I went to bed and spent the night in a weird limbo. My mind was dreaming but I was still consciously awake. I was so confused, wondering if what was happening was real. It wasn't unpleasant... just disorienting. A couple times I felt euphoric, like I was warm and sunken INTO my bed. Cozy
But overall... wouldn't do it again.

I was your neighbor at the time, and you just kept screaming "I Me Oh MY me" over and over. I thought this would be a good time to tell you.
