Welcome back.
He is going to use them for cultivation. If you pull up the stem bases and plant that in fresh wood chips, that is much better than simply snipping them. Especially if you fill the holes with sawdust or fresh wood chips.

Never heard of that..
Just when you think your check list of supplies and gear is complete. Now I need to carry a bag of chips and saw dust with me and sprinkle it like a mushroom feeding fairy.

Yep.
When it comes to cyans in particular, they don't mind plucking at all.. doesn't hurt the patch unless its not being replinished with food... places that re-chip twice a year are the best spots for plucking...
Forget the snippers unless there's a limited food supply. -or unless you have no need for the debris.
I cultivate with all my debris. Love my plucking patches.. The more I pluck the bigger the patches get every year! -but I also know they dump lots of chips there every year, twice!

Hey everyone,
I'm a newbie to mushroom hunting. I must say, the pictures I've seen in this thread is quite inspiring, especially since the Bay hasn't been hit by any serious rain lately.
I'll probably go against the majority hunting ground (SF) and focus on the East Bay.

Wow - those mushrooms are impressive. Are they getting water from hoses or something?

A nice cluster of P. Alleni from this morning. We need some natural moisture to get all the non-irrigated patches going!

Happy Halloween!

Yea, my first P allenii patch this year and only my second ever!! These are pretty small, does anyone know if they will get bigger? I left them there for tonight, but I don't want to wait longer if they are not going to get bigger.

if the conditions were right then they would grow larger, but they are looking quite dry.

I prolly would have picked those, they do look dry. I am hoping to see allenii tomorrow for the first time this season, although cyans are always just as super!!
Glad to see things are popping up for everyone.
