i think it was a metaphor lost in translation. i wouldn't hesitate to make the argument that many people develop only 20% of their potential as I personally believe nearly everyone is born a genius but few cultivate it as they age

Yeah I can agree with that, i know I sure as hell don't use full potential of my brain for anything other that trolling the shroomery

i agree that everyone is born a genius, but in their own way. everyone has different passions and it is this drive of passion that makes us genius. not everyone is passionate about numbers, or words, or sounds. to call a person a genius only because he/she can remember thousands of words is absurd.

This movie was a letdown. The book, however is an outstanding read.
It's called The Dark Fields.

What's something the book possessed that the film lacked?

There is so much depth to the characters, for one. That Russian Mafia dude - I really don't think they portrayed the seriousness of that situation very well in the movie. And from memory, the whole ending is different also. Doesn't he end up as a politician or something at the end of the film, and it's implied that he's worked out how to manufacture the drug ? My memory's rusty but I'm fairly sure in the book he retreats to a cabin in the woods and does his last dose, and it's implied that he dies. (i'll have to check on that)
