Any one got any idea what these are?
    #19064143 - 10/31/13 03:47 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Found near a patch of liberty caps in a sheep grazed field approx. 300m above sea level. Was wondering if anyone could offer some insight as I'm very curious!

Dried out

Fresh, all contained a separable pelicle.

Not clearly visible here but they were growing on piles of dung.
Spore print came out purple/brown.
If you need to know anything else please just ask, and thanks in advance for the help!
Peace

Is that blue bruising on the bases, or is it a trick of the light?

Quite plausible Duggstar. My books are no good for this! While Buczacki acknowledges Deconica will be adopted here, he also lists mushrooms that have been placed in Deconica for some time now as active, and the illustration of D. coprophila has ever such a silvery stem! I am pretty stumped, it would be too easy for me to say P. fimetaria on the grounds it doesn't seem to have been moved to Deconica!.

Yesterday in the UK lib thread, owing to the pellicle I guessed these were Deconica, and today OP has pointed out that his dried ones are blueing, so I asked him to post this thread with pics of the blue.

Hoping Alan or someone who properly understands this stuff has an inkling.

Assuming the blue is not an embellishment this is very interesting, we don't normally see posts like this from the UK.

Hi! Yes that is blue bruising. As Joie stated, he/she helped me out yesterday with an ID, it was only this morning that I noticed some of them had bruised a little.

I asked Jan Borovicka about this thread and he said macroscopically it appears to be Psilocybe fimetaria, however it needs microscopy.

Cheers for that. I won't bother consuming them as there are only 20 or so of them, just thought I would ask on here as I hadn't seen these before. Thanks for taking the time to help me out, such an interesting hobby, I've learned a lot from this site! I'm able to pick at least 100 libs every few days so I'm happy as a pig, man!
