There is always more to learn. Our place in the universe is miniscule, and the possibilities are endless!

I needed a two year break from all psychedelics, and now that I've found cactus, I'd never turn back to tryptamines... I think there is a reason we as a species inherently distrust fungi. The stuff DOES grow in detritus for the most part, and gets all it's energy from it. Plants tend to take that which has already been decomposed, and uses the sun's energy to make new life. Also, most fungi have very little in the line of macro-nutrients, and the nutritional value you get from normal mushrooms are mostly minerals and such... We can survive on a vegetarian diet, in fact, we can THRIVE on a well planned vegan diet, but try living off fungi alone...
I have decided to stay away from synthetics from the start, and now I'm considering staying away from all fungus... I have already made the decision not to eat shrooms again. I get the same dissociation with both Psilocybe and Amanita, even though all the other effects are completely different.
I have the following policies regarding things that I put in my body:
Nothing that requires alchemy. (Pure chemicals like DMT, things that need to be taken in combination to have any effect (Ayahuasca with DMT, vine alone or vine to potentiate something that works on it's own is a different story.) and all synthetics.) Nothing that isn't Kosher.
I don't follow it like Law, because as a Christian I believe we have been liberated from law by Christ. (I don't expect others to hold this belief, it is something that I feel needs to come from never-ending questioning and an open mind. Anything less is BLIND faith, not true faith, which comes from revelation, not speculation. All will be revealed to those who truly seek truth for it's own sake, and doesn't stop questioning till he/she gets it.)
So if something comes to me, and is offered to me, I will consider using it, as long as it isn't something that has been sacrificed or offered or blessed (cursed) to/by an idol. (Again, this is just me...)
So, what I would recommend is to take a nice long break, and then try a plant like San Pedro or something.
(Oh, and nothing with a latex, as latex seems to indicate poison.)

I take it you're referring mostly to that nightmare ayahuasca trip you had? Has that made it harder for you when you take mishrooms and lsd also? Or is it because aya is in a category of its own?

You here this said a lot but WHERE'S THE PROOF? It's always from people that decided they had "learned what they needed to" and quit doing them. So HOW WOULD THEY KNOW?
There are tremendous benefits to conscientious, long term heavy dosing. But you gotta go there to learn what that is.
No offense intended. But set and setting is always a major factor, and ya never wanna forget that.
So just when you think, "oh that's all there is to it", you approach it with even better intentions, and they will blow your mind in an entirely new way. I doubt there's any end to this. I've never found one. There's only an end to individual desire to go there, for whatever reason.

Yeah I could probably agree with what you said there. I like taking the experience and letting it sit on my mind for a couple of months. The benefits for me come from thinking about things during and after the experience.

Actually that trip has only really influenced my subsequent aya trip. In fact it's made it slightly easier to do mushrooms and LSD because i realize that i can survive something farrrrrrrr more intense than my typical doses of recreational psychedelics. But i have had plenty of other bad trips, and enough of those "whoa this is too weird" trips to throw me a little off base. When it comes down to it i have issues letting go. I spent a lot of time on the shroomery and various psychedelic websites collecting information to make the most informed decisions i can. As a result i have seen a few casualties along the way and when you're in the midst of insanity it's hard to keep those thoughts from coming up. I rarely have "bad" trips anymore, but for the entire summer i was getting a string of trips where it was like sitting on the fence. Time seemed to be so long, and the earth just seems to stare at you in this menacing way. Teasing your mind and making you wonder if it was a mistake to ever go there. Sometimes at the begginning of a trip i'll have to spend a moment or two in front of the mirror remembering who i am, why i do these things, and all the good times i used to have back when i had no expectations.
So i still enjoy my trips. It just takes a little more work to get there. I have to take a second longer to ground myself and commit to the experience because now i actually have the knowledge of what tripping really is. It's not just pretty colors and shapes like it was when i started. It's something far more bizarre.
But to answer your question directly, yes aya is in a category of it's own. I can barely even relate it to my other trips. Visually there are some slight similarities, but the entire experience is just on a whole other level of "intense". I do view it as a medicine more than a trip now. When i go in now, i know i'm going to be in for a rough time and i force myself to accept that.

But we don't. That is a peculiarly modern attitude localized geographically - see R. Gordon Wasson among others for an analysis of the cultural bias that leads to this fungiphile/fungiphobe split.

Yeah that's not true at all. There are many very beneficial and even necessary fungi. In fact they are necessary to plant nutrition

""You literally go into another dimension I believe its the fifth(5D) where you are energy pretty much. Just make sure you take a big enough hit, lower doses can be weird and misleading, you will know 100% without a doubt once you break through.""
This thread is interesting to me. Like the OP, Mushrooms have become a problem. When they hit, I feel like "oh oh, I'm here again" and immediately start clock watching, and wishing it were over. DMT feels the same, and is unpleasant, evidently, if the quoted statement is correct, because not going far enough. It feels JUST like an unpleasant mush trip, without the mindfuck. Missing the old joy and bliss.

It has been probably 10 years since my first trip, and I think it is getting easier to enjoy the effects of psychedelic drugs now that I am a grown ass man.
