Possible Gymnopilus luteoviridis id?
    #19059371 - 10/30/13 07:15 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Habitat: in the woods south texas, on the base of a hardwood tree not sure on the type of tree.

Gills: see picture

Stem: yellow, hollow

Cap:
Diameter, very young specimens so varying 1-2 cm , dark yellow center with gradient to outer

Spore print color: Yellow

Bruising: when pinched stems turn from yellow to brown but takes a bit to turn, when i plucked the caps off same change occured. the older ones around the spot i found them at which were pretty beat up from the hail storm the other night were starting to turn grenish/blue stain all over the caps and stems.

My first find growing on an actual part of the tree  hopefully its a good find cause id really like having a "spot".

Thanks to all yall identifiers, this is becoming a pretty fun hobby now i have a use for my woods!

Looks like a Pholiota species to me. Do you have a picture of the spore print on white paper?

I agree with Pholiota. A spore print will to help clarify.
They seem to have brown gills from what I can tell.
Also I don't see any of the texture on the caps like with G. luteoviridis
