Straw substrate
    #19061515 - 10/31/13 02:09 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hello,

I am currently preparing endeavors into grain methods and bulk growing on cubensis. I was planning to inoculate rye grains and transfer the mycelium onto a pasteurized straw substrate.

The question is, does anyone have any tips or advice on doing this for someone trying it out for a first time? I would like to know how long I need to let the mycelium sit on the straw before transferring that into the fruiting process. And how soon can I apply the colonized rye grain to the straw? Like does it have to 100% or will a little less be sufficient? Say 50%? Any other positive advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

When the substrate is fully colonized.

Full colonization.

Everything get's done at full colonization.

Any earlier than that and you open yourself up to contams.
