Cyans growing on drit? What is going on here.
    #19059497 - 10/30/13 07:31 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

My friend pointed at a big cluster of inactive mushrooms under his truck and now and behold when I looked at it, rite next to it were these.

Interesting, but there is definitely wood debris in that substrate.

I found a bunch of cyans growing in the grass the other day, a bit of dirt as well. Turns out there's a lot of woodchips under the ground where I was.

It is just the ground. His entire property looks like that give or take some wild plants.

The ground is extremely compressed but also a bit sandy.

Any wood in or on the ground would be from surrounding trees which are mostly soft wood and would only be provided to the ground via twigs n such breaking off.

Yeah I was tempted to make a clone or something because it is clearly a hearty genetic but i left the specimen there by accident lol.
But There was another baby so it will mature and I watered it to see what would happen.

There are lots of pine trees around the property are those hard wood???

Because I have heard of them growing from pine cones. Maybe degraded pine cones are in the soil?

That is a very very interesting picture and description of the property.  It really speaks, what with all the talk being talked around this having been a booster crop season.

Of all the huge beautiful patches being displayed this season, I still can't help but see this as my favorite find so far.  Thanks for sharing.

Psilocybe cyanescens has proven to be perfectly, or at least reasonably happy to grow from pine and doug fir.

There is observably a ton of wood in-or at least on- that soil. Nearly half at the surface.

--------------------

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

As an afterthough be aware they may have absorbed exhaust fumes, being in a driveway, so you'd probably need less....:crazy2:

Exhaust particulates, spilled fuel, leaked automotive fluids/oils.

Apparently drit is just like dirt, but with the extra, bonus property of Psilocybe food
