I have an important question.

Ok, now shrooms is something I DEFINITELY want to try. I want to open my mind up, you know? I wanna see what lies beneath what we cover up. I want to see things I have never seen before.
But my problem is, my dad had a stroke when I was about 2 years old. From that stroke, he became depressed, got OCD, paranoid schizophrenia, and anxiety. I am very scared that could be passed on to me. And I've read that you shouldn't trip if you have family history of mental sickness. My dad is the only one in his 13 brothers or sisters with a mental disease, and my moms side has no history of mental sickness.
Is it even safe for me to risk it? Lately I've been feeling really sad and lonely, my mom thinks I'm depressed, but I want to try shrooms really badly.
Thanks for any answers, I really appreciate it. And I wasn't sure where to post this.

If you're worried about it now, sober, it's gonna come up in your trip. Either make your peace with it now (for better or worse), or abandon the idea.

You can't just say that.
OP, as you probably know, schizophrenia has a very strong genetic link. Children of schizophrenics are ten times more likely to become schizophrenic themselves than people without an ill parent. Your dad's stroke does confuse the issue somewhat, because it sounds like maybe there are other things going on here besides a textbook case of schizophrenia. Because his diagnosis is important to your own health, I would try to get as much information about your father's situation as possible. It may be his schizophrenia-like illness is due to structural damage from the stoke. You should speak with a mental health professional about these things.
Your age is pretty important too. If you are older than 28 or so, the chances of you developing schizophrenia are pretty low, even if you have a parent with it. In 90% + of people who become schizophrenic, the first symptoms occur between the ages of 18 - 25.
As for shrooms, they won't cause schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is something you either have or you don't. However, any psychedelic drug (even marijuana) can be a trigger for people with schizophrenia become delusional and even psychotic. These drugs can also trigger the first episode in someone who was previously asymptomatic.
I know you didn't want to hear this, but you should probably be aware of these things.
On the other hand, even with the possible increased chance developing schizophrenia, it is still pretty unlikely.

Please start your dose low! Make sure with good solid friends, more than one in a safe place. A house or apartment of a friend with no sober adults you need to answer to. Have a pad of paper with pencils or watercolors incase you want to get somethings out. Keep in mind it's the drugs giving you the effects and it will not last forever. Have some benzodiazepines on hand as well.
