So I have a speculation regarding perspectives, and what they are capable of bringing us to. You can look at things from a solely individual perspective, and see the small bubble of the world around you, your individual problems, and possibly of the people around you. You can look at things from a political perspective, a economic perspective, a spiritual perspective, a societal perspective, a world perspective, a universal perspective (or what one imagines such would be, as really we are only aware of 2% of the universe. I imagine pure indifference.). As you change through these different lenses for viewing the world, you notice each pays attention to different aspects of the intertwining-mechanisms of life. Different scales if you will. From an individual perspective, you're paying attention to yourself. From a societal perspective, you're paying attention to the whole of humanity, in other words, what we need to be paying attention to I think. What if our problem, is the lack of control in our perspective. If we are unable to change our perspective, we are unable to see beyond the current reality, on a most general level. So we are unable to focus on the problems at hand.
Have you ever thought about how ridiculous going to the moon was? We focused so much energy, so much money, so much time to get off this planet. Despite it being in turmoil, and being the only habitable planet within light years. Why did we look beyond, when what we have here is perfect. It should be looked at with complete and utter love, not as some mine for our arrogant escapades. Well at least by looking beyond, we realized exactly how precious this planet is. Yet we still don't act accordingly to that knowledge.

I think this is on full display in this forum. I see people arguing with each other here, stuck in their own perspective, often completely unable to understand what the other person is trying to communicate.

I didn't exactly illustrate this thought clearly, as I was stoned off my ass, but I'm sure you can get what I'm trying to say.

it's a tough one to illustrate..
legalize drugs, then we'd start getting somewhere as a culture

alcohol festivals > drug festivals.. one has tons of ego flexing and fighting, the other is a much more peaceful and relaxed social environment. i could see the legalization of drugs as being the beginning of eden.

Which is why keeping a growth mindset is important.

Some people do.
And if you were president what would you propose? What is your idea?
Complaining and pointing out flaws is one thing but doing something is another.

I don't think it was ridiculous at all. Humans seem to be naturally curious creatures. going into space most likely (I'm no expert) provided us with many useful sets of data in which to aid our race and planet. Think about geography, weather patterns, etc...
I guess we will have to agree to disagree won't we?

lol of course going to the moon is ridiculous
from some perspectives!
How do you decide what perspective to use? You use a perspective of course! Perspectives are always limited and incomplete, and since we use perspectives to judge perspectives, there is no way to get at some absolute like, "this is surely without any doubt ridiculous", we can never get to absolutes because judging is always relative to the particular perspective used to judge.

So would you consider yourself an optimistic realist? You hope that things will come together but you can see that they may not.

None of those things are ridiculous, each has its own practical use. It's when you use such things for impractical purposes, such as going to the moon, it becomes ridiculous. Like this

A Word on "perspectives" I thought it would be appropriate, and this guy has a much greater command over the English language than I
