According to a Time/CNN survey, 52 percent of those polled believe the war was not fought in vain, even if weapons of massive destruction are never found.

It's only a stat from a single poll, but I think that says a lot when half the people polled basically say they do not support the war. Historically, a huge majority usually support any kind of war. This is probably the least approved war since Vietnam.

I think it shows that a lot of people are sheep with no backbones. They supported the war when it was going perfect, but when it gets a bit difficult they quit supporting it. Either a war is justifiable or it is not. When you start a war you HAVE to finish it. The mentality of people who want to pull out when the going gets tough sicken me. These people are the reason Osama thought he could get away with 9-11 with no repercussions. It is also people like this that give terrorists a reason to attack our troops in Iraq.

They know this is the main front in the overall war on terror. If we win and democracy prevails in Iraq, they are screwed. They also know a lot of Americans don't have the stomache to see this thing through, even if they were for it in the beginning. So by continuously trickling in deaths, they figure we will give up. Not completing the war in Iraq, no matter the cost, would be the biggest mistake we could possibly make. Turning it over to the UN, so they can screw it up would be an equally big mistake. We have to much in this not to see it through.

I think it shows that a lot of people are finally getting a backbone and are not being sheep anymore. They supported the war when everyone felt it would be unpatriotic not to.

I guess the following Bush campaign has already begun:

How about if we turn it over to the UN so it DOESN'T get screwed up?

Nevermind, too late for that.

Those two in the top right panel seem very wise.

I would say the "main front" in the war on terror would be the pakistan/afghanistan border area, where no Fed dares to tread. Thinking that Iraq is the "final showdown" between the forces of good and evil is just ignorant patriotism and blind obedience to dogmatic rhetoric.

If we win and democracy prevails in Iraq, it wont change a fucking thing. There are many other places in the world that are potentialy very fertile grounds for terrorism. As a matter of fact, if the Feds continue their orwellian tactics in the name of "fighting terrorism", I would even say that America will become a hotbed of terrorist activity. Remember the 1960's? Abbie Hoffman and the Weathermen?

seriously, things arent that black and white, shakta.

Do you not see the irony and contradictions in this statement?! war is either justifiable or not, but it has to be finished once its started. Ha!, i think thats why osama attacked on 9/11....or do you have something to prove he thought he could get away with it?...the war has started and both sides feel they have the justification, and are willing to fight to the end...
Kinda reminds me of israel and palestiniens....grow up, and use some sense.

Oh, OK, so because I argue with conservatives, it makes me a "libbie". Fuck you and your labels. I claim no affiliations. You're the one drawing lines, just like your hero:

A minor point.

Bush is not a Jr., nor a II.

So what. I don't care what the rest of the world thinks about it. They sure have no problem taking our aid money, or asking us to help them when they need it.

How about Liberia, and the $15 billion we are going to spend in Africa to help them with the AIDS crisis. That is the tip of the mountain my friend.
