Good to know. I'll do xfers off of the contamed dishes to a new clean dish in a separate SAB work day.
I have no idea how close I am to isolates still. I don't see sectoring as much in person as it is apparent in the videos.

sometimes it takes a couple of transfers to see sectoring. Multiple spores germinating and growing at s similar rate can prevent visible sectoring.

hell yeah. thats good to know. on some of my PE prints that i put to agar and some of my 1st transfers im still seeing fluffy myc. i was getting worried.
on a couple of my initial agar spore placement of another print i got 100% rhizomorphic growth and it doesn't look like there is any sectoring. im still going to make transfers just to be sure.

bodhi, I have same problem with wrapping plates in an SAB, even with parafilm. I'm still new with agar..only been working with it a month now, but After Im done transferring/cloning/whatever in my SAB, I push all the dishes to one side and other supplies to the opposite. Pull my gloved hands out of the holes, and gently/slowly lift the lid of the SAB and wrap the plates outside the Box. probably not a thing many people will endorse, but it has worked for me. I also have my SAB in a particularly clean room, but by no means is it anything un accomplishable. Just the cleanest, uncarpeted room in the house, sprayed lysol and wiped nearest objects with 10% bleach, especially lid of the SAB on the outside, thats where my parafilm or saran is, and I wrap there. It seems like ur dishes had good luck without ANY wrap in the ambient environment of ur apt, so I suppose ur house/apt is clean enough to accomplish this out of the SAB wrap. Its just easier, and have had same contam rate as when I did it IN the SAB.

hope that helps, and great thread idea, if i understand it right...is it going to be an agar grow along/agar work along? If so I'm gonna be hooked!

That last dish looks awesome. And yea I plan to log the adventure as it goes along.
Most of these dishes were from clone tissue origin but I hear that can also have 100's of genetics.

welcome aboard. The more pictures the merrier.
I'm actually trying to slow down how much fruiting I'm doing since I can't realistically eat all the shrooms I make without ending up in a mental institute.

yea I think most I ever ate was 6g cubes, mckenna style (dark room, silence, alone). It's my favorite way to do it, ur a different person the next few days if u pull thru. I can't wait to grow something other than cubes! Just now perfecting them, so its only a matter of time! Damn, 5 g azures, I can't imagine!

With the 5 cubes it was just that a dark room in silence. The azures I started out starting at the stars watching them form pictures then I crawled in my cabin and disappeared in the blankets a truly mind blowing experience

I hate 14g of cubes that were made into pills. Pretty much no moving for a few hours.

Looks like it came in through that gap in your wrap. That happens to me when my parafilm cracks. I think I stretch it too far.

was able to take 5 good transfers, nothing even near the contamination. made sure to wrap them well this time, and shut the fan off that was on in the room... so I'm hoping for the best so i have lots more pics to share of really good sectoring mycelium.

I noticed I had better luck wrapping my dishes like I did the first time around with the pink wrap. I'm just going to do that with the clear stuff from now on rather then just around the edge. Whatever works you know.

Here's the survivors which haven't been overran with contamination.

Agar beer snacks sort of like fruit snacks
Yup, I made some pomegranate agar jellies once. It's got an interesting texture, for sure. It's like gelatin, but it shatters rather than cleaving on a plane like gelatin does. Beer might be fun--when I worked in a lab I always wanted to make jello shots with the agar, DI water, scientific grade ethanol, glucose and citric acid we had, but everyone else was a coward.
