grain and fridge
    #19057103 - 10/30/13 11:32 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

I have some Elm, Pink, Golden Oyster and some Shiitake (warm weather straw type) and it will take me 4-5 days to mix with straw. I've had it about 3 days and am getting some metabolite in it. I was wondering at what temp should my fridge be to slow it down but not kill it?

I think maybe I did not make myself clear. I have 3 10lb bags and a 5ld of grain that is all ready to be put into straw......I will not be able to do it all at one time so I want to know how long can I safely keep it in a fridge and at what temp. Sorry for the confusion.

I think the pink oyster theory is wack.. ours do fine in the refridge at 37-low 40s last couple years...

Pink oysters are definitely tropical. Maybe you've been lucky with the strain you have. I and others here in the forum have killed our P. djamor cultures at standard refrigerator temperatures. I'd never take the chance.

Im currently trying to kill some. I have a few plates in the mini fridge. They have been in there for 2 months and are still alive.

I want to see how long they can withstand the cold temps.

If you're going to spawn within a week, keep them at room temperature.
