NORML Dropped from Super Bowl Commercial Contest By Mark Miller · Wed Oct 30, 2013
NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) announced Monday that the group failed to advance to the third round of a contest hosted by the software company Intuit. NORML was competing to have a professionally produced TV commercial air during Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2, 2014.
Intuit’s "Small Business, Big Game" contest, which began in August, gave NORML the opportunity to place an entry that resolutely declared: "Together, we WILL legalize marijuana."
NORML won round one on September 25 by finishing first in an online vote open to the public. However, the group failed to advance to round three. According to a NORML blog post, “Intuit removed the ability [for the public] to sort by popularity during the second round.” Unfortunately, “for reasons not communicated to NORML,” Intuit decided not to advance the pro-pot organization to the third round.
According to a post on Intuit’s Facebook page, “It’s important to note that votes only accounted for 10% of the judging criteria in Round 2.”
The third round will see Intuit staff narrowing down the 20 semi-finalists to four finalists, with the public choosing the winning company via an online vote in November.
In a statement, NORML Communications Director Erik Altieri responded: “It is unfortunate that Intuit seems to be relying more on outdated political values instead of overwhelming public opinion when it comes to selecting which entries advanced in their contest.”
Altieri added that based on the positive public support and media coverage, "the country was ready and eager to see an ad for sensible marijuana law reforms during the most watched TV program of the year. This could’ve been a win for all groups involved, but instead Intuit will likely have only generated ill will for itself amongst the 58% of Americans who now support ending our country’s war on marijuana.”

I told you guys in another thread. They could have had 99% of the votes and they still wouldn't have won

all of the alcohol ads during the superbowl should be replaced with weed commercials

Whoa can you imagine seeing something pro-cannabis related on a super bowl commercial ? maybe I'm just stupid but I feel like that could have a huge impact. It wouldn't get mareewanna legalized the day after but it sure would show how relevant it is. The super bowl is the most important event in america. It's bigger than elections and holidays. I don't even know what teams play what sports but even I usually wind up knowing what teams play what in the super bowl and always throw money down.

Well, the commercial they had wasn't very professional. The ending made it look like the whole commercial was just a big sarcastic joke that shouldn't even be taken seriously.
In my opinion, it should be serious, based on data, visually/audibly pleasing, shouldn't involve jokes (especially stereotypes) and should explain why remaining illegal is foolish.
I have typed a few suggestions which I included in a quote box below:
Quote:
* Being illegal causes more harm/problems than if it was legal.
- Families get in arguments/fights about being caught with "illegal pot".
- Family members get arrested over "illegal pot".
- People lose jobs and are refused jobs because of "illegal pot", but can drink liquor and jobs don't care.
* (Claims to be safer than alcohol consumption.)
- No deaths, less chance of violence.
* Hemp production (non-psychoactive) alone would be very beneficial.
- Fiber, Edible seeds and seed-oil and jobs.
I feel strongly that hemp farming should be legal and encouraged for it's benefits and not be grouped with the medicinal cannabis varieties. I also believe that if cannabis became legal, they could create variations and synthetic versions which could target more specific medical applications and provide doctors with more options to prescribe to patients.
I could go on and on, but I've made this post long enough as it is. It's not a perfect post by far, but this post isn't going to be displayed on national TV.
Thanks for reading.

MAPS.... is the future of psychedelics. It stands for Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies. They conduct legit studies with varying drugs and get honest, true results about how beneficial/harmful a drug is.
Very good group of people.

MAPS has been breaking new ground in the world of psychotherapy through the use of psychedelics. They've shown the significant promise that MDMA has as a means of helping people work through traumatic stress, as well as applications of LSD and Psilocybin in treating end-of-life anxiety in people with terminal illnesses.

I didn't even know this contest was going on, shows how little I've been keeping up on NORML.
