Hey! Newbie here. Typical Rot/Bruise Question With Pictures.
    #19054287 - 10/29/13 09:06 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

Heya.  This is my first time posting and cultivating.  I have a bit of a concern.  Not many were affected, but I'd still like to be able to do SOMETHING with them.

I have Golden Teachers and they didn't look ready but spores dropped on one of the cakes, so I picked all of them off and laid them out to dry...  Something happened, I needed to move them, so I stuck them in a baggy and shoved them in my pocket.  I took them out a couple hours later and they were completely black and still not completely dry.  I'm a girl.  Girl's jeans have the worst freakin' pockets in the world and the shrooms were without a doubt smooshed...

They aren't slimy or anything and didn't stink until I put those little packets that come in beef jerky into the bag...  I did it thinking it would help absorb moisture and they ARE getting dryer.  They smell more like beef jerky than anything, but not rotten...  So my question is...  Did I bruise these to death, or are they rotten and would you suggest these for consumption or tea?

Notes:  The golden flakes are vermiculite.

I had a dog run off with a stem  I was going to use for a clone(longstory). By the time i found it a few hours later, he had chewed and shredded and smushed it so much it was black and nasty looking, quite similar to yours, except yours are more intact. I threw it away and personally would do the same in your situation. I believe when they turn that black, they are pretty much worthless. Just my 2¢
