primordia questions: be patient or modify?

Hey Guys,
I have got a few questions. I am a novice mycologist, and need a little advice.
I have an extensive background in chemistry and microbiology, but Lets just say that I have some mycelium cakes with about 1/4 to 1/2 inch casing on top in a perlite humidity chamber(dunk and roll tech). Been monitoring them for about 7 days now(8 hour florescent light cycle). Mycelium has started to permeate through the casing. Haven't seen any primordial formations yet. My humidity seems to be topping out at 80-85%.Temp is maintained at 70.
Should I continue to be patient with the notion that life wants to thrive, or should I begin to intervene and modify some things?
If I were to modify things I would crumble the(slightly break up into 1/2 inch pieces) mycelium cakes and make a verm casing sandwich in a rectangular container. this rectangular container would be place back into the original humidity chamber that the cakes are already in.
I have heard this is decent idea.
If you have any other suggestions, improvements or ideas please let me know.

Sounds like you built a SGFC(Shotgun Fruiting Chamber), but pics of your setup will help us help you perfect it.
You want 12 hours of light, not 8, and the light should be between 5000K and 7000K (Daylight).
You should be misting/fanning the cakes too...mist them directly with a fine mist until they glisten, then fan out the chamber...repeat when the water you misted previously has evaporated.

Modify only what we tell you, after you upload pics of your setup.

This is never the right option....and a layer of verm on the bottom is pointless.
Spawning them to a bulk substrate would be better, but not after they have been fruiting for a week.
