ok, so i think i found more gymns in some new spots today but something just seems off to me...they look about the same, same smell and the spore print is the same rusty brown/orange as the gymns i had IDed last week...and they were along the same path but down the road some....and i might have found a different sp. of Gymn also... #1

 #2 Gymn??????

heres some extras Morning Glory ( i believe )

Amanita persicina (cooking right now, mmmmmmmmmmm) super sun-baked (this one is not cooking lol)
and some habitat shots of the "Gymns" i found...these freakin things were in the MIDDLE of thron bushes with tiny, very sharp thorns EVERYWHERE... thats the reason for the lack of habitat pics...sorry, it was painful enough picking them lol

theirs one in the bottom left hand corner that is not the same...trying to figure that one out now, anyways thanks!! Happy Hunting!

im not questioning you at all... i was just wondering...but it looks like a lot of the cap margins and some stems are bruising dark with a green tint to it...its a light tint tho, not neon green or anything lol.... but they are without a doubt bruising...whether its active bruising or just bruising is a different subject... i cant find too much info on this species.....and one cap i noticed grew into a stick or something and has an indentation on the cap, and the indentation has dark bruising also...

I hear what you are saying and there are about 30 or so Gymnopilus species that macroscopicly look like these.I'm not positive what they are exactly and I would stick to the easier to identify gyms that bruise green or blue.

no doubt ....these just have me really curious now... i cant find one thing that says these ARE toxic, or these ARE NOT toxic.... everything says toxic/suspect and ALL gymns should be considered toxic and some just plaint dont know lol... damn, i wish i knew what i was doing.....i would LOVE to study these for real ....thanks for all the help tho, as usual, YOURE MY BOY BLUE!

That makes me want to devote my life to writing a book but its evident most of the best mushrooms have already been discovered and studied. I wouldnt mind studying Gymnopilus like u were saying Bloodworm is doing

The habitat photos are confusing. Did you find them on wood or buried wood? They look like gyms to me, but if they weren't growing on woo they're not gyms.

Don't do that! Bloodworm and I want every Gymnopilus collection we can get are hands on, active or not. I agree that these are similar to G. penetrans and probably inactive.
Art- if you aren't going to eat them, consider mailing them to me please.
