By Blewit you mean Laccaria ochropurpurea, right?
http://www.mushroomexpert.com/laccaria_ochropurpurea.html
Common names can pretty much mean anything to different people, you could call a death cap a blewit and you would not be technically wrong....In my opinion. You would be wrong in most peoples opinions, but that is the nature of common names.

Oh they're effin' delish. OP should fry that bad boy in some olive oil with a little onion or garlic. Salt and season to taste, they don't bring a lot of their own flavor, but they make up for it in texture.

When you find them, you may be nicely impressed with how well they hold their own against damned near everything likely to grow in your compost, as long as it's not soupy/anaerobic wet.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

After seeing someone or two mention it here, I popped a few blewitt butts into some fairly fresh sawdust, mycelium took off. Prepare a nice bed of forest duff in a fairly shady location, put a layer of sawdust on top and plant a few butts!

I found the texture of small round Laccaria caps quite welcome, but the bigger ones go flabby in oil. I may have used too much oil, one of those things you want to get right with most mushrooms. Taste wasn't worth posting to Shroomery about.
