where can I find the best Lion's Mane products?
    #19039234 - 10/27/13 03:08 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

My use of powdered mushroom such as Reishi to mix with my soup has been great. It has added that exotic taste to it. Now I am looking to try Lion's Mane. Not sure if they come in powder form. Maybe I should ask the supplier who sold me the Reishi powders if they carry Lion's Mane. But I'm always looking for good sources so if you people here know of some let me know. Also I am trying to cut down on those cup noodles you buy at Walmart as they are salty soups. Salts are bad. I think I am thinking of just using hot water and bullions. Any good bullions I should try? The stuff you'd find at the store are mostly common flavored bullions like chicken or beef. Anything more exotic?

Bouillon cubes are not a whole lot different than the cup'o noodles that you want to shy away from.  They contain mostly salt.  Try to find low or no sodium broth/soup base.  Better yet just throw some bones in a pot and make your own.

If I was looking for dried manes I would not hesitate buying from AV.  All the dealings I have had with him have been top notch.

I'm sure there are salt-free boullions out there for sale. 1 cup of noodles generally have twice the amount of sodium a person would use a day so it's no good. It's like eating a day's worth of calories when eating at Chipotle. I'd rather have the taste than the salt of boullions. Does broth or soup base come in cubes? Only reason why I was looking for boullions was because it's ready made and easy to serve (hot water plus boullion).

Ever had soup without salt? Yeah,  it's disgusting.

I have tried to find vegetable broth/bullion with no salt,  but was unable to find an affordable option. I settled for a low sodium broth concentrate instead.  Still salty, so it tastes good,  but not too salty.

Eat sea salt.  I believe it is actually healthy for you because it contains almost all the trace minerals on the earth in similar proportions to your blood, and is absorbed instantly through ionic transfer (it is inorganic, not organic). Very similar to the difference between organic and hydroponic plant growth, organic has to be asimilated by microbes into inorganic molecules, whearas salts bypass the microbes and enter directly into the plant without any need for a " middle man". There are books and literature on this subject; I think table salt NaCl is a gimmick to make us think that salt is unhealthy when in reality sea salt is healthy IME.  Thus we poison ourselves with a synthesized version of something that is healthy and readily available in unlimited quantities in its natural state.  Exactly what they want, unhealthy people who they can herd like sheep! How anyone uses table over sea salt is beyond me; and as to the iodine, sea salt has some, but just add small amount of kelp to your diet and this will cover it.

You are very correct Aleon, table salt has had all the good stuff removed and that is why it is so bad for you. Straight sodium can cause your body to not absorb other minerals. True sea salt is excellent for you. especially because of city waters filtration, most people used to get those minerals in their water, that doesn't happen these days.

My diet, 60% leafy greens,  15% other veggies and shrooms,  10% legumes, 10% fruits,  5% nuts and oils.

Can't go wrong with that nutrition plan,  except in winter when it costs about 50% more just to eat every week.

Not on a daily basis. I will have whole grains only in the form of oatmeal once or twice a week.  I don't eat any processed foods so it's really easy to avoid grains.

I eat so much rice, lol.  For me its really refreshing to have a small bowl of it, with veggies if available,  for dinner.

Brown rice is my main staple.  I cook a few cups every weekend for the week, then mix in veggies or whatever mushrooms I'm growing at the time.  Really anything goes with it!

Yeah, I used to use brown rice as a filler too, but I eat enough fiber in the form of fruits,  beans,  leafy greens,  etc. And grains don't make me feel very good after I eat them.

Yep, exactly the same for me :aliendance:

If you want, try jasmine brown rice for a slightly different flavor; its my favorite.

sounds like you guys do the same as I do. rice and veggies and ofc my mushies when I have some to spare for myself (best part of the meal) I also like to have buckwheat, add some sesame oil w/ gluten free soy sauce & either steam or fry whatever veggies I got. funny how we mushroom cultivators are health conscious  also, I forgot to add. I use Himalayan salt (pink salt) and celtic sea salt for my condiments.

Mmmm... Sesame oil and soy sauce.  That's my favorite for when I have shiitake and rice.

depends on the ingredients of the soup. I think if soup had sauteed tomatoes and onions then it could give that taste without even using salt. I've sauteed veggies before without salt, the tomatoes gave that salty taste to it. I drink tea with no sugar most of the time. If I do use sugar it's dextrose (glucose). The almond milk I drink (bought from Walmart) is unsweetened. The peanuts I buy is unsalted. I plan on getting some carob or cocoa powder and make my own hot chocolate with nothing else. Haven't tried it this way yet as I didn't know I could use either of those 2 main ingredients by itself.
