I live in this area and I feel it's the most uptight area I've ever been and I've lived a lot of places. Montana sounds nice though....

I've heard that Montana(think it was Montana) is one of the best kept secrets in terms of wealth, jobs(in certain industries I'm guessing, certainly to a lesser extent as far as the industry i'm in) low cost of living, beautiful scenery.
And yah, technically I live in what I consider the tri-state area, but I'm not sure if that's the same one Rackem was referring to. It's smack dab in the middle of the bos-washington corridor and a very highly populated part of the country, I dig it and you find people from all walks of life and you've got access to great culture and blah blah blah, but I wouldn't necessarily call the area laid back. There's good people, good infrastructure in terms of public transportation and networking between the major cities - and very pretty scenery, but in a much "quainter" rolling hills kinda way compared to west coast scenery - we also have all the cons of higher population densities. Also the weed out here is way more expensive.

they just passed a law that states illegals can be lawyers.. and have drivers licenses.
california is fucked.. only way to afford it down here is to work for the government.
and right now 7 out of 10 people do just that or get payment from the government in one form or another.
no wonder they are broke .

I think often about eventually heading west. Not to California though, the PNW is more my scene, I feel.
COL on the east coast can get pretty outrageous depending on where you are as well. Any ideas on where you wanna go?

Or, you know, Silicon Valley, where the average salary is well into 6 figures and there are ABUNDANT jobs.

It's actually gotten a lot better since they implemented the higher taxes on the wealthiest people and a few other things

yeah... the list still goes on..
like what happened with beach cities having to pay more on the power bill just to relieve the 'load' on the I.E. i dunno man.. too little too late in my eyes..
its a bummer that such a nice place can go quickly to hell when a bunch of people have money are running the place..
if you have ever flown out of John Wayne, you will know exactly what im talking about.

I was just refuting your claim that you have to work at the government to make it in Cali. There are several lucrative industries based largely in California. I'm definitely planning on moving to Cali in the next few years, looking forward to the beautiful weather all year round!
