You're out of your mind, dude...Nucky is boring without Margaret.  Margaret created the tension between Nucky the gangster and Nucky the human...now he's just one-dimensional.  He's like Tony Soprano without Carmella.

I disagree. All she did was stop any possible excitement. Without her Nucky can do as he pleases. Remember the scene where they bust the kid stealing their booze? That's character growth.

I can say he still "battles his two sides" without shitty Margaret. For example, dealing with the death of his assistant, realizing he knew nothing about the guy's personal life.

Mad Men pulled the same shit when they got divorced.  Without Betty, Don had no reason to sneak and lie like he used to...his whole character became boring as fuck.

I tried to like Mad Men but I couldn't. Too pretentious, made it about 5-6 episodes in before I realized I would never be that interested.

I also hate the main female character in that show, they couldn't of given that woman a worse haircut.

Well, I now know not to trust any recommendations from you as far as entertainment goes.  I'm sure you hated Skylar, too.

Yes and no, if that makes any sense.

Is it so wrong to want to watch a main character develop without some character purely designed to hinder them?

Without obstacles, there is no conflict.  Without conflict, there is no drama.

This is all theatre 101, holmes.  You're SUPPOSED to dislike the antagonist, so it's working...but without the antagonist, there is no story.

There are plenty of other antagonists/conflicts/drama in both Boardwalk and Breaking Bad besides the shitty female leads.

I think Akira hit it on the head.  You only seem to have a problem with female antagonists.  Do they remind you of female antagonists in your life, maybe?

Nope. I have no problem with any other females in Boardwalk Empire, nor did I have a problem with any of the females in Breaking Bad, minus Marie (and obviously skylar like I said before). I'm not in some minority, in fact a large percentage of fans of both shows feel the same way as I do.

In House of Cards I thoroughly enjoyed both female leads.

I finished Hell On Wheels the other day, liked every female in that show, too.

well, antagonists antagonize. you're supposed to be antagonized by them, that drives the story. the protagonist aren't hindered, they essentially "set up", right?

That's the point, you're supposed to hate her.  That's very different than not wanting her on the show, though.  Without her, it would be a show about an old dude becoming a criminal.  With her, it is about a normal family man "breaking bad" to help his family and eventually getting transformed into a monster.

I don't like Margaret at all, find her pretty annoying. It's more her writing (I feel) than her acting. I'm glad her and the kids have been gone almost every episode. And go figure the one they are in is the most boring episode of the season so far. I have absolutely no interest in Jimmy's Mom's-Piggly Wiggly guy plot. I want more Al Capone, right now. As far as women in the show that blonde lady with huge tits seems alright but she just might be mesmerizing me with her huge tits. They are really big.

I agree last season was boring until the badass ending, but this season has been great besides maybe one episode I didn't like too much. Also I don't really agree with how they handled Eddie that guy was a great actor and he just started developing as a character. Kinda bullshit how he went out, even though the scene was really well shot I don't think his character should have broke so easily.

I enjoy the FBI angle this season, too. The actor who plays that lead FBI guy is pretty intense. Also gonna miss that crazy ass gold-tooth'd motherfucker who got stabbed in the back last episode. He was a fucking crazy good actor menacing and intimidating in every scene he was in since his introduction.

One of the things I like most about boardwalk empire, is that the show has a loooong way to go. If your familiar with the The mob story of luciano and al Capone, you realise that there is some monumental shot that is going to happen, and they're must be plenty more seasons in store for the future.

I just hope scorsesee can keep the same level of quality throughout the series. I dont want to say the show is slipping, but the past season has been fairly lacklustre in my opinion. Hopefully it's just escalating towards something bog, but ehh.

The characters are great in boardwalk though. They're all very diverse and distinct, and there is alot of interesting and strong personalities. But it's like fuck man, stop killing all the good characters! They can't just keep introducing new characters every season without losing the senserity of the show.

I guess they kill key characters on purpose to shock the audience and evoke a response, which is cool.... But I mean, season 1-2 was based heavily around jimmy IMO and they ducking killed him. I almost quit the show when that happened because it was like well wtfs the point now.

I think nucky will die soon just because I've never really heard his name mentioned outside the show. And then the show will obviously take more of a focus on Capone, luciano and the birth of the mafia.

I understand the point you are trying to make, but it doesn't change my opinion. They could of killed of skylar early in the series and I wouldn't of cared. Like I said, I didn't have the same issues with other protagonists, including Jane who I found quite lulzy with her drug addict logic.

Does it bother you so much that I don't like some shitty female antagonists in two TV shows?

Nah brah you just don't get it, you don't get basic story structure we need overly annoying female protagonists or else these shows won't work!

I'm glad someone agrees with me. :highfive:

If you did a quick google search (Like I did when I started watching the show), you'd find out the real Nucky lived a long life and I think died of old age.

So no, he will never be killed off.
