Slerotia pint vs quart

What is better for growing sclerotia, time wise? Pint or quart jars? I would imagine that a pint takes less time but also yields less. How much less time does it take if any? Also how many pints/quarts can I inoculate with one syringe? Thanks.

Stick with quarts and only use three or four drips out of the syringe when you inoculate.

Hey redcat I haven't seen you around here which makes me wander will such a little amount of spore solution really be sufficient for a quick and successful grow. Also with grains in quart jars I know it's different that pf pint jars since you can't stick your syringe directly into the substrate so would it be best to fill with more grain or is it sufficient to just squirt a few drops in one area or move the needle around so to drop 1 drop in four corners? how about shaking the jar after inoculation or just leave it as is with the spores on the top "I've read different teks that said 1 was good and the other wasn't visa versa? along with many other things I don't know which to believe.

When using spores less is more (more solution does not equal speed). The less spores the better to start a new myc network. A couple drops is fine. You don't even need to squirt them into the four corners. Just put the needle in enough and a couple drips onto the top of the grain. You can shake the jars once they're 30% colonized but some people say to let stone produces fully colonize without a shake. That would be something to look up with the advanced search engine and trusted cultivator box checked.
Don't shake the jars after putting spore solution in. And if you're going to shake them at all wait till it's at least 30% colonized then shake and only shake the one time. If you want to produce stones invitro don't shake at 100% just put them somewhere and forget about them.

One drop maybe two drops in all four corners and don't shake. I don't shake after 30% colonization usually. I just let them go. Last time I did up about 100 or so p. galindoi quart jars and shook a few at about 25-30 % colonization without any stones growing yet just for fun and they grew stones just like the rest.lol.

Awesome, Thanks for the great info. So how many quarts do you usually get when using one 10cc syringe?

10-infinity. I do get what you're asking though and you could probably get over 100 easily. Most vendor syringes can be diluted down, although this is another contam route you could expand your syringe to 120CC using sterile distilled water and put it in 10 syringes and they would all work just fine.
