Even if they do not grow, you could throw them on some agar, and see if you can cultivate them.. you can grow gyms on grain, I had some gym mycelium growing on wild bird seed, just didn't put it on agar to clean it and got trich.

Sounds cool. I read a bit about cult. But couldnt do it where I am. Thanx for the info though! I had thought of cultivating oysters first to see how things work.

I didnt water them but thinking I should?

I would.

Over the years I have watered many different types of mushrooms to help them along before I eat them.  Last year I nursed a Hericium for 3 weeks until the rain began again.  It grew large and delicious.  I'm not sure it would have lasted the dry spell if I hadn't of helped.

Dang knew I should have watered them today. I will water them tomorrow morning. See the weather here is coming out of a cold spell. It rained for three or four days and got super cold snowed and hailed. Now we r expecting 60-70f weather for a week. No rain in forecast. Should I mist them with a spray bottle or does t it matter? Also how often should I water them? With plants i water in the morning or evening only and once every two days.

You want to keep that log nice and wet inside.  It is more important to soak the wood than the mushroom.

If it rained for several days it has good saturation already.  Just keep wetting it and the mushroom will be fine.

Cool beans mayn  today i shulda took pics. It looked bigger but the smaller ones around it werent any bigger actually looked smaller like they were dying off. I will do my best to save them and help them. These might be the only Gymnopilus species I have found this year! Either way im glad all my hard work payed off a little. Its in my beliefs now that Galerina fruits right before Gymnopilus does. I could be wrong but I cant find much info online to confirm. They either fruit exactly the same time as GYms or after or before. I searched a huge forest earlier and hardly found anything. Lots of little Gals left  on logs. No other gymn looking pins in that whole forest or the one I found these in. Going to double check tomorrow  gives me somin to look forward to lol. TY
