School me on how to drill a holes in a glass bottle

So I need to drill either a bunch of tiny 1/8" holes or if the task doesn't get more difficult when making bigger holes then a few 3/8" would be nice.
So I believe the best incense burner is a glass beverage bottle. Just attach a key ring to the stick of incense and drop it cherry down in the bottle.
You need a large mouth bottle or drill hole in the glass so oxygen can enter.
These holes don't need to be pretty just functional.
Can I do this with a screw gun?
The only thing I know it you put a few layers of tape where your going to drill. I'm assuming that's to hold you straight and possibly it it chips it contains it
Anyway any positive feed back is very appreciated and comedic foolery is encouraged as long as your funny. Bad attempts at fucking off is not tolerated. You know who you are I dont know who you are but I'm sure you do

You need a glass drill bit that you can get at most hardware stores. Look at soundrones how to drill glass. He does it for bongs.

Yeah I do believe so.
I know you can drill and even cut glass bottles with a dremal and the right bits so I don't see when simple can't be done with a screw gun and the right bit and technique. Hence why this thread was created.

You can tie acetone soaked string around a glass bottle, set the string on fire, then dunk it in cold water and get a clean cut.
Maybe you can do something similar like superglue fabric in a circle onto the bottle, soak in acetone, light, douse in cold water.
Although a special drill bit would be better and easier

You can go down to the local headshop and get a bong for a few dollars. Surely that will not break the bank.

Where do you live that you can get a 'bong' from a headshop for a 'few dollars'? Bongs cost many dollars. Not a few.

You need a diamond bit drill bit. That's all there is to it. No metal is hard enough to drill through glass, but diamond will go through it in 5-10 minutes.
Doesn't matter the type of drill or speed either. Just as long as it's a diamond bit.

Apparently the picture in this other thread wasn't relevant to the thread, which seems to be the case with your naked girl picture in this thread.
I don't mean to bring down this thread, I'm just being realistic.

If you can do with only one hole, and you don't care if it's a bit ragged, you can just slip a dime into the bottle, and then grab it by the neck and flick it sharply downwards. It shoukd break a hole out near the bottom. It might take a few tries to get it.
That's how we used to make our BT bottles back in the day.

As others have mentioned, get glass/tile bit from the hardware store for like $10. It'll basically just grind away the glass like a sander.
I do the exact thing you mentioned: Drill a hole into the side of the bottle to make an incense burner. I give them to friends for holiday gifts etc. You can always find interesting bottles for a buck or two at garage sales as well.
I've found though, that you need much bigger than 1/8. The holes I drill end up being nearly 1/2" diameter. You may get different results. Good luck.

It would be much appreciated.

Honestly, its as simple as you'd expect. I went to home depot and bought a bit like this. or something similar. Here's the most recent I did. This is a large wine bottle, (double the size of a standard 750mL). The hole is 1/2", and about 5 inches up from the base. When I stick an incense in the top, the tip hangs at just about the hole.
The only issue is getting the hole started. The bit tends to "jump" around on the smooth glass. A lot. I usually clamp my bottle and/or affix to something. Takes a lot more pressure than I thought too. Not like drilling wood at all.

You could probably rough up the glass with a bit of emery cloth on your finger to get the bit started.
