Anybody from New Zealand?

It is my dream to move there one day. I am currently getting back into the whole enginering bussiness so I can score points for the immigration quota.
In my imagination it is basically a western society located on an epic somewhat tropical island (and one not so tropical island).
I love the outdoors life, empty spaces and surfing, both of which are pretty lacking here in the Netherlands.
One negative I know off are the drug laws. Any other negatives you Kiwi's (or non-Kiwi's) can tell me about?
You can talk about the good things too

I know a lot of people who have been and my dad lived there for awhile during his 20's, Heard nothing but good things, plus there is like 4 species of Psilocybe! It looks beautiful I'll probably head over eventually. Only a few hours flight too1

Yeah you Ozzies can just head over without too much hassle. For us Europeans its an expensive and demanding process.
I looked into getting into Australia too but my partner will not come unless her retired mother can come too. For OZ that means paying something like 45.000€ for her mothers visa.
The NZ visa is cheaper but it is harder to score enough points on the visa quota.

Yeah I heard that too. Supposedly the wages are way higher in Australia.
I dont really care about making a lot of money. I just want to live somewhere with real nature, without all the lethal animals.

I am a kiwi! But have been living in South Korea for the past couple of years.
I am a very keen surfer, outdoor lover and have a lot of good things to say about New Zealand. But there are also a fair few negative aspects (hence why I am currently living in South Korea!)
Feel free to pm me and I will give you any information that I can...
And yes mushrooms grow in abundance in NZ
