hi people
i'm a point where i have to decide what i want to do with my life, i have no real interests or passions that i know of yet and i know if i decide to just drift along and pick up whatever job i can i won't have the drive to do anything else
so yeah i know this is a ridiculous question but any suggestions for careers/paths i could take would be really appreciated

Try things that might interest you, for most people it takes years to find something they are passionate about.
I'm 24 and just starting to realize somethings that I want to invest major time into, before that I was just drifting along, doing whatever.... Still kinda am but now I have some sort of direction at least.

No offense, but are you like 14 yrs old? You have no interests or passions AT ALL? I find that hard to believe. Are you a human being or a cyborg?
If you have to ask this type of question on a forum like this you must be really lost in life and you should really seek this type of advice somewhere else. Also, if you want advice on a major life decision like this you might want to give us some info about yourself considering we know fuck-all about you & have no clue what, if anything, you might be interested in.
You're mostly likely going to have to turn a trick or two...go into prostitution.
Good luck with whatever you choose though. Godspeed, my young confused friend!

Just try doing as much as you can and sort out the things you enjoy best out of them, eliminating the negative choices. Maybe try some meditation or deep thinking to help steer yourself in the right direction.
Keep in mind that your job doesn't always have to line up with what you want to be as a person. E.G. One of my friends who writes a lot is a security guard for some warehouses, and instead of saying, "I am a security guard," he says, "I am a writer who works as a security guard."
Just something to think about.

i've been meditating a lot lately, i think it started when i was 14 and it has really helped me get over that disillusionment with society the nagging angst and hatred for everything and the feeling that its all pointless and there is no hope but i feel its made me sort of complacent im not restless any more im not angry theres no get up and go or drive to just accomplish i feel perfectly content just doing my thing in my own little world and i think thats bad
@fenchmachine none taken and i'm -19 of course i have interests and hobbies but they're more like just things to do to pass the time and get to tomorrow, i like art, i like lifting, i like people and working with wood i like gardening and travelling, restoring arcade cabinets, climbing and running but they're just hobbies and nothing i'd want to make something i'll be doing for the rest of my life
and yeah this probably isn't the right place for my self absorbed wankery just thought some of you might have gone through something similar and come up with a conclusion i hadn't thought of

There you go right there. There are plenty of different ways to turn those things into careers if you work at it and go about it properly. So are you saying you'd rather being doing something you dont like for the rest of your life? Or would you rather try to do something you enjoy for the rest of your life?
Art = try to make money from your art, work at a art gallery, become a art broker, etc
Lifting = work at a gym, become a personal trainer, work for a company selling/producing supplements, etc
Woodworking = design/build stuff out of wood, work for a company that sells woodworking tools, start a company that sells wooden stuff, become a lumberjack like Dexter, etc
Gardening = become a garden designer, grow fruit/vegatables and sell them, grow flowers/cacti/plants and sell them, work for a company that sells gardening supplies, work in the gardening department at a store, etc
Traveling = become a Travel Agent
Restoring Arcade Cabinets = dont know much about that...not even sure if that is lucrative?
But I would still highly recommend my first suggestion...become a male gigolo. Or as Dennis Reynolds likes to call it, "a handsome companion for rich older women who like to do fancy, exotic things"! Maybe if you get lucky then Frank Reynolds will be your pimp.
All you have to do is walk up to the rich, older woman and say this...

If that move doesnt work then you try this...

And if she rejects you after all that then you'll probably be all like...

But most likely she wont say no because...

Yes I am. And that's not to say I don't do things. I work full time, meditate every morning, grow lots of nice plants in my garden, practice Aikido several nights a week, go to concerts and music fests, etc.
I guess my point is that people can get so hung up on the concepts of things like drive and passion, that they put so much pressure on themselves that they never really can fully engage life because they are always doubting themselves. I say just live your life the way you wanna. Drives and passions will come and go naturally. No need to force them.

It's hard man. You're absolutely not alone in not finding a career path. My advice is to just try something you think you might like. you're young, dont worry about "making the wrong choice", just start studying something/working on a business you wanna grow in. I can assure you this, when you find the right thing, that thing you wanna do for the rest of your life, what you were BORN to do, you'll know. trust me. so just try shit
I'm studying journalism and I'll start making my own content on YouTube soon and I adore what my life is right now, but it took me 3 years since finishing high school (and another like 5 years of doubt) to find it. I studied Politics, sociology and law before this. and I'm only 21
so the key word here is try. or rather, do, because there is no try. Do without fear of failing

Also this. Do what you love to do and live how you want. If your dream requires a college degree go for it, if it doesn't, no worries

For what it may be worth to those who feel that empty void life leaves. I felt that so heavily to an extent for years to where I was ready to just self terminate and such. I wasn't overly sad about anything just the quality of life wasn't right.
And then I found this 32nd degree freemason at grassroots. He just offered me a browny as I was walking by him on the road. I took it thinking it was durgs. But it wasn't it was a supper local organic brownie. Like the most intense, healthy, poison free, Flavor filled brownie I've had in my life.
So then we start talking and this guy got to sparking out of nowhere and as were chillin he tells me about this thing called spirit science. Now I thought 2 things when I turned it on.
1 This freemason guy was super cool and smart and said this will be a big deal. So for someone who's 1 degree from the highest rank in the freemasons(spare me your ridicule) I figured maybe this guy actually figured some stuff out that I've never thought of.
So I sat through 6 hours of this cartoon guy spewing all this stuff at me. And in the start it was boring as hell. But as we got to this chapter called the flower of life. I started seeing how these ancient cultures knew about the fabric of existence and how one symbol made purely of circles can actually give us all the information of our dimension. Everything from emotions to music to the periodic table of elements. It blew my mind. It was even spoken of in the bible(that's what genesis is about) and seen all over the world drawn the same and named exactly the same in every religion and every culture in many different time periods.
And then it told me about all this stuff like astral travel and why were the way we are and why things are like this. It even made sense of how stupid all religion seems and showed me things I never knew. They have clay cylinders from the lost city of babylon. That speak of the first 1000 humans that ever existed. And it explained how we got like this. And what we do about it.
So I started reading all these books about astral travel. And meditation. And it led me to the truth(for me anyway) that life is as good as we make it. And we are suffering only because we are feeling empty. And that void is to be filled with purpose. I only offer this information from my experience and I figure maybe even If I just help one person feel this good just about living.
I don't do religion. I do what seems logical. And I tried my best to find evidence against alot of the information. No dice. But the good part is I went from durg abuse and sadness and wanting life to end. To understanding why I felt like that. How to fix it myself. And how to spread it to others.
I sincerely hope this helps. The Flower Of Life is very very powerful if you learn about it. There's a reason they don't teach it in school either. But I wondered where math come from. And if this is the source of math. And people understood this. It became clear to me life was so much more than it seemed.
Sorry I was ranting I suppose. Its been a long night. Well. Hope all gets better either way for you my friend. Feel free to pm me if you find any interest in anything I mentioned.
And if it's anything else this new understanding of life brought me way better friends. And even attracted the love of my life to me. I forgive all and resonate with peace and love and its daaaaaaaaaaaaamn good.
