The container should be air tight, like a sealed jar.

That tub's lid is not air tight....not sure how this would work.

Or coffee filter...

Or my steam pot? Its for sea food and has that rack in the bottom. Throw it down there and fruits above on a paper towel. Lid on and ill tape the edges to be safe

When I was doing cakes I poured damprid in the bottom of a tote, and laid fiberglass screen over top, then put the fruits on that. It worked way better if I fan dried for about 8 hours prior to moving to the drying chamber for 48 hours. I switched to a dehydrator when I started bulk, and never looked back. The price of refilling the damprid will offset a cheap dehydrator pretty quick if you do much growing.

^^ a few hours with a fan prior to damp rid works so much better

This should be obvious to like 99% of people but I totally messed it up once and learned my lesson. Damp rid liquifies as it sucks moisture out of the air. I had a rack set up in a tub and the feet of the rack were just resting on top of the damp rid layer. Parts of the damp rid liquified first and the rack took a tumble, dumping what would have been an ounce or two into a the gross damp rid slush mixture. Make sure whatever is holding the fruits away from the damp rid is very secure and stable, don't be a dummy like me lol
