Pure Vermiculite casings for my Pan Cyan trays 1

Hello I have some Pan cyan trays almost ready to be cased with coir, only problem is I have NONE right now. I have to wait until payday about a few days from now.
So my question is: Would a pure vermiculite casing work for Panaeolus Cyanescens? I've always only used coir for PanCyans and I only use pure vermiculite for Cubensis.

Yeah, definitely. Vermiculite is good enough casing material on it's own, mixing it with coir or peat gives minimum improvement in performance.

Coir is not casing layer material......
It is bulk substrate material...
Using verm is fine.

Ohes sweet! I'll be sure to case them with Vermiculite and no more coir. Panaeolus Cyanescens is such an amazing and tiny mushroom species. In fact they're going to be cased today, but I am going to relax a bit first lol

It was for years and years until a person started saying that it isn't and everyone started repeating it. It's perfectly fine. Thousands of people were using it since the beginning of hobby mushroom cultivation and never had any problems with it. If you don't have peat, you can use coir without worry.

That was then and this is now. Coir isn't casing material and if someone plans on casing something they should have gone out and bought proper casing materials while things were colonizing or something instead of thinking about casing materials right before casing.

Coir has nutrients.....we know this because we spawn our grains to it and the mycellium eats it up....
A casing layer is supposed to have very little nutrients....
Taking this into consideration, coir makes for a shitty casing layer material, especially when the alternatives are verm and peat....
