Anyone know what those are - a dark brown mushroom, that bleeds RED when cut (not milky red ). Dark brown cap, brown gills and stem - I found them in Vancouver, BC; thought they were in the lactarius family, but def. not..
Anyone knows these? --
I'll hold on to them till I hear from ya - thanks

Is that latex or staining? That is some weird looking shit. The context and cap color look wrong for rubrilacteus or any other lactarius I'm familiar with for that matter...

Definitely looks like Lactarius but I am not sure which one. What kind of trees were nearby?
Looks edible I think.....

Thanks, everyone - It looks like staining. It does not have a milky base, rather watery/ coloured base. It is weird, indeed...

The Nigricans definitely fits the description.
And there were maple/ pine mix around where I spotted them. I picked various Russulas today, cos I am familiar with those of the European origin. But, North American ones, not so much. They did look edible, and have quite a common aroma to them.
Thanks, everybody - I feel like I learned something today

I found this once with Joust in the Olympics. Or rather Joust found it.
