I wouldent allow my children to watch television for more than a few hours a week, they would study even when school is out, and forced to read a new book a month, and by age five-six I would make it a point to learn a second language after their basic understanding of english is rooted. Sports and activities, and to say what they think, be blunt.
Omg, I could never have a child.
I would try to have them do stuff like that, but never force it.
They'll probably grow up and resent all the stuff you made them do, then they won't like learning, they'll never read again, they'll become television junkies, etc... and they might disown you for forcing them.

There's a lady in my complex who has a "God is Pro Life" bumper sticker on her car.
Its like...the size of her bumper, too.

No, I'm afraid of having a child because it would be a huge pain in my life.

I see this every few months at my doctor and it makes me uncomfortable to be sitting there and trying to pretend like i don't realize that anything is going on. It's not like it makes me mad or anything, just seeing the parents look at you and they are saying sorry to you with their eyes it makes me feel bad that they have to go through that. Being in your 60s taking care of your 20/30 something child.. I can't imagine. The parents that stick through it all the way are special people though
And they often have a host of other medical issues that are very expensive even with insurance helping out they still get buried with bills.

Yeah, it's really not.
I must admit I have made fun of retarded people before, never to their face, but I feel like shit for doing it, and would never even think about doing it now.

First hand experiences, though I've had none myself with such a disorder, could really put things into perspective. I hope you're never burdened with such a situation.
My grandfather and all his brothers have suffered and died from Alzheimers condition, their sons, and my father all have shown signs of the conditions early into their sixties.
This is what scares me, to have to see it for myself and one day possibly pass down that experience to my children, as to say them watching their father ( me ) become irritable, and restless, and only memories twenty years prior with no connection to reality as it is in the here and now.
I'd rather be alone for that.

Just because i don't find it funny doesn't mean you can't. but it is sick to laugh at other peoples suffering

Honestly I'd rather be dead than go through/make other people go through that, I'd probably take myself out if I was coherent enough to do so, probably with if oxymorphone, a nice euphoric death.

I wouldn't say suffering having worked with them in the past they are some of the luckiest people around. They have to be some of the happiest people i've ever seen. A lot happier and funnier than a lot of people working 9-5 every day

Me and my girl just broke up because of the "do you want kids thing". She wants kids and I don't. Same question has been popping up in my head recently.. what if I had a kid and he ended up being retarded...
One of the reasons I don't want kids.
Too much of a burden for me to deal with. Call me selfish! Well I am pretty selfish come to think of it, but I'm honest about it

Not all problems can be tested for in utero though, and the girl could be pro-life.
Yeah it's a common misconception that every problem can be screened for. Some issues are even caused during the birth itself.

Yeah I got fucked up during my birth pretty big time, its why my eyes are so bad, why the whole left side of my body has problems, and it caused a few other problems that I don't really care to discuss.
I almost killed my mom and shit, when I finally came out I was breech and had the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck and shit.
It was all so avoidable to if the doctor would've just listened to my mom and other family members, they kept telling him something was wrong, he didnt listen though, he just sat there reading a book or something they said.
My parents are against sueing people though, so am I really too, but this guy fucked me up pretty bad for my whole life, I really think we should've been compensated for his malpractice.

Nope, I think its total bullshit and it makes me angry, if I knew who the doctor was and I saw him I'd probably handicap him for the rest of his life.
