Putting together new lids with Heavy Duty SHIP's & SFD's, 100 of them to be exact, I guess mainly I was just curious as to what size drill bit you use for the 'SHIPS' as well as what size hole everybody is using for their filters. I already have the red RTV, just wanted to review a tek before I put mine together. Excited about these new lids, and def dont wanna mess anything up putting them together! I saw it a few weeks back just cant remember where!!

If you hold the drill bit up to the "SHIP" it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what size it is. Start with a small hole and work your way up
I've read RR saying something similar to that using small cut say coin sized SFD's doesn't work well. The reason they work on jars is cause they go over the entire metal lid leaving a small gap between them. This means the 4 holes in the lid exchange gas into like a little chamber then seeps through the filter over the entire surface area of the filter.
You might wanna look into these: http://www.themadseason.com/25mm-Syringe-Filter-p/8002.htm

Sooo, the link you sent me too, first words I read were, "These filters are intended to be used strictly for liquid culture jars. They do not provide adequate gas exchange for use with grain spawn jars. Please don't use them for grains. We warned you!"
Haha thanks but not thanks.
