I'm intrigued by this
Most aya shamans drink regularly like that for their whole life. They are definitely fully functional and coherent. In fact more so than a lot of people I come across in my daily life . . .
Yeah it's a really curious thing. I feel something about their culture allows them to engage in the brew and not be scared off by side effects. Whereas in western culture, changes to our brain freak us out because we think there is something "wrong". You know... Hallucinogen persisting perception DISORDER, depersonalization DISORDER, etc
Btw my last post sounded somewhat arrogant, just wanted to make sure that's not how it came off. Was just saying I've only had limited experiences and they were all very high so it's hard to relate to anything enjoyable with that substance. I don't know why, it just sounds like I was trying to out do you when I read back on the way I worded it

I can't relate at all to people finding Aya scary or anything of the sort. I've taken it 5 times so far, one time sucked because I hate dance works with a passion (good brew, shitty setting IMO) but that's about it. The first time I took it I literally thought I had died. That my body is laying dead on that church floor. When I opened my eyes 15 mins later and I was not even dead, it was like in those movies where they dream about losing everything then they wake up to a second chance and can do it all over again. Sweet
That being said, at no point was I afraid, in fact I am still very much planning to move somewhere where it's legal, to be able to get it at least monthly. At all points it felt to me like an extremely positive experience, no ass-kicking or shame or guilt or anything of the sort involved. I suspect one needs to be in decent physical shape for this, do their pranayama beforehand so they can deliver enough oxygen to the brain during the trip, maybe the fact that I don't eat meat for more than 10 years and never drink alcohol, maybe that has some effects on it as well. I mean we do know the Peruvian shamans change their diet, specifically so the Aya works better with their system.
In any case, massive thanks to the gods/planet/universe for growing these fantastic plants for our pleasure and benefit

I was being suffocated by insecticoid fractal beings for 4 hours. All my senses were blending into high pitched squeaks that were physically painful on my ears

Setting / ceremony for this? Especially the sounds / music part?
I've asked around before getting aya for the first time, and at least in the Netherlands, all the people I've asked pointed me to Santo Daime, for the reasons that 1. it's well brewed and dosed, and 2. the ceremony and group setting go miles and miles to creating a positive experience.
I didn't believe it at first (thinking that after 2-3 mushroom trips I'm already a psychedelic hot shot ) but the more I read about weird aya trips the more I think the setting/ceremony and especially the music are a large part of what makes a good trip. It's not just the molecule used.
I've seen it go wrong with other people/settings, so aya by itself isn't the whole deal. Good setting = awesome amazing life changing experience. Same exact drink, people and setting and you change the activity, you get dance works
After the aya, for months and months, I for one feel the music that was sung during the ceremony, like it's literally in my body, like a sort of circuitry, guiding feelings and states via specific patterns or pathways. Like where I used to have simple straight up lines before from A to B, I now have intricate patterns and twirls and "programs" installed. That's all related to the ceremony music, it imprints in the body/mind a certain kind of healthy rhythm and good vibes.

What's the problem with church? It's not like they have you sucking Jesus' cock in there or anything crazy. They gather around, playe AWESOME AWESOME music which IMO is absolutely priceless in terms of the value it brings to the trip, and it all costs 30 euro a pop.
Are you getting anything close anywhere else?
As far as I'm concerned my business is with teh plant, not the Jesus worshiping. All their songs are in Portuguese. If you don't speak Portuguese they could be singing about discount car parts, it wouldn't make one bit of difference. It's the group and melody that make the trip so amazing.

I did it with the pachamama church. Don't get me wrong, the experience as a whole was profound and positive, but the trip itself was anything but pleasant

I don't know them but it sounds nice. Well if you can, I'd certainly go again. If you look at my dance works link, tht was like my 3rd or 4th trip. Had it been my first, I could have wrongly concluded that aya or at least the church totally suck.
Where are these guys, the pachamama church?

Here's two little stories for you:
After my first trip only yesterday, certain things became much more apparent, not any deep understanding about how the world works but I knew where certain people got thier ideas, I knew where certain things in certain cultures came from... I can recall saying "oh, NOW it makes sense!" a lot (revelations: the source of paisley, what the creators of "the regular show" and "adventure time" were on, generally the fuel of ideas for many creative people).
It also became really apparent how much pre-disposition and prior mental and emotional state affects the trip and EVERYTHING ELSE IN YOUR LIFE. I sort of already knew this but now it's in sharp focus. What brought that about was that in the trip I was pretty lucid and making sense and though laughing like a maniac and seeing bearded wood-gnomes in the river bank foliage, I was able to reason and rationalise when necesary but constantly trying to examine and understand myself and what was going on; This is because I have a scientific and rational approach in life. Whereas my girlfriend who was also tripping with me, was very in touch with the trip and her experience seemed affected by her emotions a lot as she is a sensitive person who is often driven by feelings.
The day after I accidentally bumped some chap's car as I got out of a friend's car (leaving absolutely no mark or dent) and the man got really angry and swore but I laughed in his face and told him to relax because I saw so clearly that firstly there was nothing to be angry about, and also how his pre-disposition to anger or emotionally driven reactions with an over-concern for trite things had driven his reaction to a non-existant arbitrary problem.
what about you Dudits?

Can you expand on this a bit? As an artist I'm quite interested.

So ive only triped once about 9 years ago, and i was coming down after a week of not sleeping. It was still one of the best experiences of my life, not for any particular reason. A judge decided i needed to get sober and here i am a little over 8 years later. Just wondering if tripping is the right thing for me to do, if it will be as beneficial as i hope.

then i think my post is especially relevant to you: it will be as good as you make it because your pre-existing mental and emotional state determined how good it is, so get well and happy sober, be in a content place emotionally and physically and then it'll be good
I went to the woods and found that colours were dictating the temperature we felt- the reds and oranges of the leaves made us warm but the cold shady interior of the house made us cold,we felt warmer outside despite outside being windy and rainy!
so to summarise: for a good trip, give yourself a good situation and be in a good place within yourself.

I didn't have many visual hallucinations but what patterns and colours I did see were a lot like this and this. I could have seen more if I'd indulged in the trip more but I was kinda standing outside it because i was trying to understand it too much hahaha
