If you walk in smoke shops and you don't see them. You know the ones that sell bongs and shit your better off learning to glass blow or sticking to the foil and straw method or some thing different.

They are totally illegal in Mexico. If the cops find one you need to give them at least 2000 pesos or they will send you to jail.

Apparently you do not have much experience with Mexican police. Cops in Mexico can search you on a whim and if they find anything you better hope that you have a decent chunk of cash on you. Pipes with residue are illegal in Mexico just as they are in the usa.
In Mexico it is irresponsible to even start your car without 500 pesos in your pocket. Just to cover trraffic violations and stuff. If you have weed bring 2000 pesos. If you have other drugs bring 5000 pesos. It is not super expensive when you consider that the chances of having to give up your money is about 1 in 1000. Cheap insurance really.

I was recently informed that the law you are referring to was repealed.

Well no shit a pipe with residue in it is illegal everywhere. That's obviously not what I was talking about, the OP was asking if it's legal to buy the oil burners. I REALLY doubt it's illegal to buy them, but of course getting popped with a used one is pretty dumb.

I bet most mexican cops would pop you for a clean one. Drugs are very stigmatized in mexico, and the cops do not follow the law. One ex marine was sent to jail for several months for a shotgun he brought, which was perfectly legal in Mexico.

I am trying to avoid legal issues. Mex cops are fucking corrupt, they will look for any reason to shake down a rich gringo. Its different for mexican citizens. I want to sell the oil burners because there are hella spoofs here and they all use lightbulbs. Not once have i seen oil burners. Im trying to make money so i can extend my trip, hence the question. Does anyone have any legit first hand knowledge in regards to this?

Im pretty sure all guns for private ownership are extremely illegal in mexico. That being said he still should have been able to bribe his way out of it but it might have been really expensive...

Depends on if you have a vagina or not and even then its a lil iffy. Would definately have to pre-qualify you, through some sort of diplomatic exchange process.

Long guns are totally legal in Mexico. It is hand guns that are illegal. I have seen plenty of people hunting in Mexico while I was looking for mushrooms, no problem. It is a little unnerving being in the middle of nowhere with a guy with a gun and the nearest cop being several hours away. But most Mexicans are really good people and I have never had a problem.
Regarding the marine that was unjustly busted, he should have paid the cop like $500 pesos ($40 us) and he would not have had a problem. But he was dumb and did not want to try that.
To the op, always carry money to pay the cops and you can do what you wish. If a cop is making a problem they really just want some cash, so give them some and you will be fine.
