Oily film in pressure cooker
    #19035505 - 10/26/13 12:35 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Whenever I PC jars, there's always an oily film on the surface of the water around the jars. It even has the rainbow colors you might see in a puddle in a parking lot under a car with a bit of a fluid leak. The film is fairly substantial too.. It clumps together if you stir it around. Anywho, it's not a "problem" because my jars are working out fine (after I wipe the residue off the exterior). I'm just curious though, does anyone else ever get this? I use reynold's wrap tin foil but I can't imagine that would have an oily residue on it that gets cooked off, nor do I think the culprit could be the mirro

Sounds like soap or something. Maybe leftover from you cleaned your PC.

Does your pc have a rubber gasket and if so do you oil it?

I believe it's silicone or something and I don't oil it. I do wash it out with dish soap every once in a while.. I'm really OCD with rinsing things so I doubt much gets left behind. Does WBS have oil in it? I measure out my WBS and rinse it in the PC.

I can't imagine the oil would ever damage the PC, amirite?

Some people put about a quarter cup of distilled vinegar in the water to help with staining.
