Attention bored mushroom identifiers
    #1903730 - 09/11/03 02:23 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

I found this today, in a well manicured lawn.

I doubt it is magical but I am just wondering what it is.

It had a reddish brown spore print.

conocybe. very small, hard to tell speceis, i usually say lacaeta for lawn specimines with conic caps.
the stipe should also be wider at the base, hollow, and fragile.
Conocybe terena would be tougher, stipe width consistant the entire legnth, cap more rounded than conic.

also, it would be wise to consider this mushroom toxic, and NOT eat it and remove all doubt.

I agree with the Conocybe and not eating it.

some people would do more than slate an intellectual lust, and untill I have established a knowlage of your habits, I must assume that you don't know how dangerous indescretion is. because I dont really know you, what I DO know is that some people would eat them and not even give it a second thought,  so I respectfully warn you of the obvious.
it stops after a while, you just sorta cross over into the know, at that point evrybody will all pretty much assume you can take care of yourself and don't need all this nagging.
i sure got it 4 years ago when i started here   but then to be honest with you, i was awfully dumb and who knows, i might have poisoned myself if i wasn't so concerned about how stupid it would make me look to be indescriminatly reckless with the highest stakes on the table (in front of all the old hustlers).

compair this to a family, thats the best way to see anyone.  family has a compelling intrest of mutual protection, weather you think you need it or not, you'll get it, and later you'll see why. hopefully not at a loss of someone you respect and care for, but rather their preservation. perhaps from your own influence. consider that

i can see why now. and i can't see why not

i would never consume any mushroom unless it were 100% confirmed safe to eat. I've gone hunting with a pro once before, I am surely aware of the impending death that is ever-present in the world of mushroom hunting. I appreciate your concern, mitchnast as I know you speak out of understanding and empathy for me.. Who really wants to hear about a well-intentioned hunter get eaten by a mushroom? Its no good.

I look forward to learning and identifying mushrooms (not just by the picture, if you know what I mean.)
