P. Azurescens?

So I took the hubby out to the coast to try and find actives for the umpteenth time. He FINALLY found his first actives. VERY happy for him. BUT this particular shroomy looks different than all the rest so I want to make sure.
Habitat: Coastal Grasses/Sand
Gills: Brown
Stem: about 3 inches white and bluing where cut near cap.
Cap: caramelly brown
Spore print color: In the process of printing.
Bruising: The cap seems like it is bruising blue.
Gills of all the rest.

Gills of oddball.

Caps of all the rest. Notice the odd one?

Gills and stem of oddball.

Look more like p. cyanescens to me. Nice finds. Does your oddball have any blue bruising, looks like it may not be an active.

Yes it does. The light bluing doesn't show well in the picture. Found on the beach in sand connected to grass roots. The stem also blued where it was cut to get a spore print.

I agree that they look more like cyanescens than azurscens. Besides the one in the bottom right of the middle picture, that one might be azurscens.

The conical one might be P. azurescens. I think the bruising is not showing in the pictures very well. Is the conical one bruising vivid blue like the rest?

Only where it was cut is it vivid blue. The cap is bruising faintly where handled. I've got slight prints now from both and both appear deep purple. Not dark enough to photograph yet though. The funny thing is they all came from the same area (roughly 1ft by 1ft)hubby seems to think it's an age difference but I disagree. I think they are 2 different species of Psilocybe.

Azures are known to have a symbiotic relationship with coastal dune grasses.. and they love the sand. Your location is a perfect place to find Azures!

Hey man that the conical one is P. azurescens since it has a dark purple print and bruises vivid blue. I think the rest are P. cyanescens. Cool find. Sounds fun, but also sounds like the man had you sweating like triathlete testicles.

Yeah, if the conical one has vivid bruising it looks more like an azure, the rest are definitely cyans. Time to prove your husband wrong.

So here are the prints pardon the sloppiness of them.

Tried to show the bruising a lil better on the underside of the cap.

The couple that look especially wavy look more like cyanescens, a couple (the one in the middle and the conical one) look more like azurescens, the others look like they could be either.
