I think they are cyanescens but cool either way. Did you find them adjacent to the coast? I'm so happy you got a chance to break your Psilo'hymen.

LMAO@Psilo'hymen! About 30 yards from the water in thick grass, no wood. And TYVM! And I went with azures based on habitat and most were round and flat not wavy....only a couple had a slight wave to them. And 1 the wave was severe.

Azzies grow from wood, too. They just like to grow in wood that's buried in sand in the grasses.
They do look like azzies to me tho, but I'm not an expert.

They grow from more than just wood.. particularly grass duff / ligneous debris. There is also the symbiotic relationship azures can have with the native coastal dune grass.

P. azurescens(and dune growing P. cyanescens) colonies at large are on woody debris in and under the sand and grass. The grass, sand and moss act like a natural casing layer.

LMAO! Don't know WHAT he was doing there. He was just kickin it and not moving. Like he was watchin the place or something...was making my wife nervous as hell! I went across the berm into the woods to hunt cyans and noticed like three cameras strapped to trees so I went back to the beach for azzies and hit gold. I thought stamets wrote only azzies grew in the sand(where I found these) and cyans preferred wood mulch in the runofff areas. ANYWAY Im happy, cyan or azzy Im all good.

Never heard about cyans in the dunes unless there is actual woody deris. More rarely cyans growing on grass ligins. Azures can be connected directly to the roots of the grasses. Symbiotic. But they prefer the native dune grass, not the introduced species. Both love to mingle in sandy soils. Both love wood. But azures prefer symbiosis.
Cameras strapped to trees??? Are they specifically for catching mushroom hunters??
I think they're getting wise about urban actives here... my main spot, host to pounds upon pounds of actives was recently busted when other mushroom hunters got caught.
They now have bicycle security gaurds patroling with talkies.
LAME.
It also looks like they sprayed fungicide, no mycelium or mushrooms where there used to be tons.

Yup. I check the attachments and and these were surely grass root attachments, no wood.

He was watching the place and something. It's not like they don't know why we go out there.
