Living on the road versus a house?

What do you think would be cooler to do for a few years?
I've started thinking living on the road could be bad ass if there was some kind of mission behind it. I get burned out thinking about it but I think if done right it could be pretty sick.
As long as you have money supply coming from something like an internet business and making enough to stay at decent hotel/motels. It probably is more fun to do with other people too but I think it might be more interesting than the normal every day life at home, etc...
Anyone ever think about doing this before?

I lived in my truck for a year. I had a small 90's Nissan pickup with a camper shell. It had its ups and downs. Sometimes I would have other travelers with me, sometimes I would be solo. Travelling alone was really good for introspection and its much easier to be clean and organized, but it can be boring and lonely.
Ive went for like a week with 6 other people and that was fun but got old REALLY quick. Its impossible to keep a vehicle clean with that many people living out of it.
I spent 2 months with two other people I got along with pretty well, but spending so much time with the same person in such close quarters will often make people sick of each other.

fuck motels n shit. fuck houses. drift like a leaf
i want to hike pacific crest trail or longboard from coast to coast some day. i'll be sleeping in a bivy sack and living minimally. i'm saving up a nice chunk of change for this adventure i hope takes place next year or the year after that. right now i'm saving and training physically, can't skate as much lately as the weather here is just terrible most of the time and there aren't any indoor parking garages. considering getting a balance board.

I have friends who have spent years "on the road" on touring productions, usually as lighting/sound technicians. I don't know if that's exactly what you were referring to, as they do have their hotel rooms/gas/food comped. It's exciting, fun, and very very hard work, their days are often 12-16 hours, they're troubleshooting all the time from venue to venue because everything changes on a weekly(sometimes daily basis).
I also have friends who are performers(generally they're ice skaters) that travel the world a lot, some of them travel on a seasonal basis(same with the techs, summer in the mid west, winter in Europe). A big thing for both parties is cruise ships - I don't know people outside of the live entertainment dept. so I can't comment on how great it is to work on cruises outside of that, but the people I know loved it and got to see the world and got paid to do it. It's a great way to save up money, and I plan to eventually tour a little myself as a tech to do just that. I don't think I'm cut out for years and years and years touring, though. I like the idea of having a home.
It's rough, they make a lot of friends, but often don't get to see close friends and family for long periods of time, but I imagine that's an obvious part of living on the road.
You could also check out Wwoof, and try your hand meeting people/traveling that way.

I think it'd be cool to live on the road.
If I don't have a decent job where I'm at by spring I'm leaving. But I'm going to spend most of my time camping/hiking in the woods. I'm just going to bring a minimal amount of money and supplies and live off of the land, I've been wanting to do this for a while.
