figuring out vitamin c content

i got a bunch of free limes, so ive been cutting two up and placing in a water bottle and refilling through out the day
(hoping for getting extra vitamin c) but wondering if im actually getting any discernible amount
ive found the vitmin c content in limes is around 30mg per 100g
and that the average lime is about 100 g
but i cant find solubility rate in water
also how much time it takes for the water to absorb whatever amount
anyone know anything about this?

You might be better off juicing them first.

Density for vitamin C = 1.694 g/cm³ so every mL can hold 1.694g of vitamin C
mL = cm^3
Assuming I remember my chemistry right
vitamin c is very water soluble so if you're cutting up the lime and really mixing it in you could easily get all the vitamin c

I'm thinking it's already dissolved in water in the lime. The density of something does not tell you its solubility in water though.

This is almost right. Density is the mass per unit volume for the substance itself, not the substance in solution. The solubility of vitamin C will vary between its different salt forms, but nearly all of them are highly soluble in water.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_ascorbate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcium_ascorbate
Check out the "solubility in water" data in the properties boxes on the left.

Ah, yeah. Its been a long time since I've taken chem/ochem in college. I don't really remember how to determine exact solubility. I thought it was something close to that though.
I just remember polars dissolve polars and nonpolars dissolve nonpolars

After all this science mumbo jumbo I just have to add Lemons > limes
