Boletus?

Found under a birch tree by roadside in Ireland. I'm assuming it's some kind of Boletus. Is it edible?

Also found these in grass on mountain where sheep graze. Don't know what the hell they are :p

Yes that looks likely. I'm assuming it was a birch tree, it had silver bark, but my knowledge of trees is about as good as my knowledge of fungi, in other words not very good :P

If you're ever in doubt about the tree type, take a few photos to post with your request.

I see Birch leaves in the photo

Definitely one of the Birch Boletes, and yes edible. Guides tend to say they're not very good but I found them nice. Just try not to bash them around too much as they turn to mush easily.

Enjoy the Liberty Caps too

That's a seriously bulging Leccium. Looks more like edulis!
