When I was younger I pretty briefly entertained the idea of trying for the FBI or something like that. Mostly because I liked the idea of helping lock up really bad motherfuckers. Particularly people like serial rapists, serial killers, terrorists, etc. Then I realized I don't qualify for FBI employment on several counts. Including but not limited to past drug use.
Though they have loosened the rules regarding marijuana use, specifically, over the years. I think now you can have smoked pot a handful of times, as long as you've never used any other drugs, or ever sold any drugs for profit. At least that's the official policy... to the best of my memory. Which is kind of funny, because I thin the CIA is pretty much the exact opposite. Where taking LSD is almost a pre-requisite for becoming an agent, and they make a lot of side cash importing drugs. "Cocaine Importation Agency" never fails to amuse me. (Despite being kinda sad and fucked up, for its potential truth.)
As for a "regular" cop? No. Probably not so much. Especially, of course, (though not only) because of the war on drugs. Even if you do have some discretion in who you arrest, you may not always have that choice. Plus it can be kinda dangerous, depending.... and some other stuff....blahblahblah....

Sounds like a bunch of teenage angst.

Yea cops in most states can arrest you for smoking pot or whatever but they're not the ones coming up with the law. They just took a job doing what 'we the people' told them to. It's like being mad at a cashier for the prices of whatever you're paying for.
We all do these substances knowing the legality. The 'rules' are archaic, yes and we know that so we choose to break them. Why be mad at the people earning a living for enforcing them? We should be more mad at our conservative neighbors who are voting for these silly rules.

99% of all cops need to be murdered horribly.
Of all my police encounters, I've probably had one or two that were actually normal people, the rest were sociopathic fuckholes who need to be murdered and have their families raped. I fucking hate cops with a passion. I hope they all get prostate and/or cervical cancer and die bleeding out their asses

CIA is routinely involved in the trafficking of drugs all over the world. not limited to South America. Some research will dig this up pretty easily. Leased CIA planes going down laden with tonnes of drugs, heroin importations to fund black ops, yada and this isnt conspiracy shit and i did not read it on Alex Jones.
I have a hard time giving respect to anyone who works for an organisation enforcing rules they know no reason for especially when the organisation they work for is inherently corrupt to the core and does more harm the world over than any good.

I especially don't get the "yes sir, no sir" thing you guys do in America. Where you treat cops like a fucking drill sargent. It's depressing to see people lower them selves to snivelling wimps in front of a cop. I never address any police officer with any wimpy "yes sir" or anyhing like that, I talk to them as equals. They are not better than me, they have done nothing to command my respct. They are suposed to PROTECT AND SERVE which they never really do anyway, they stand to protect and serve the capitalist system and mae sure you don't get in the way of business.

Fast car. A gun. You get paid to just patrol and when you get a call respond.
I would love if the job just dealt with actually protecting the public instead busting teenagers.
If it weren't for the war on drugs would you consider police work? If not why?
When I was a kid I watched a lot of Colombo and murder she wrote and read detective novels like mike hammer and stuff. I wanted to be a homicide detective until I was 11 and learned you don't just become a detective on the homicide squad, but you have to be a cop for a long time and work your way up to it. I would never be a cop, I hate them. When I was a kid I idolized the inspector and thought I'd be a good sherlock holmes type, but thats not reality. Even the homicide squad is a horrid job, although I still consider it semi-honorable as its dealing with actual antisocial maniacs rather than harassing ordinary people over trivial violations.

I had a buddy that I served with in the millitary that was an mp. Biggest douche you would meet and he said he did it just to be a douche cas he was always picked on. He would fuck with people just for laughs. Kinda was a more douchy version of super troopers. If he saw a hot chick he would pull them over just to see if they would flirt with him. If you were cool he would leave you alone but god help you if he considered you a "jock looking faggot", shit you would get a cavity search while he laughed. Eventually he got out and worked at a sheriff's office where he got fired shortly after for busting some guy with pot, getting all fucked up then pulled over some chick and got a blowjob from her in lieu of a ticket. Dumb bastard forgot the cop car recorded everything. But cops stick together so no jail time for him just fired. Worst criminals ever are cops. Now this tard is working at a Wendy's in Wisconsin. Thats somewhat justice.

Giving traffic tickets wouldn't be hard out here.
People drive like maniacs all over the damn place, but of course, there's never a cop to see any of it.

What have the police stopped/talked to you for?
Traffic things. One bad one was when I was driving home along a highway in my sisters car with my girlfriend, I was in the right hand lane (overtaking lane). I was't speeding but I was going 100, which was the speedlimit, and errbody else was doing like 95-98 so I was just cruising in the overtaking lane slowly overtaking people. a cop pulled in behind me and he was speeding, so i moved over to let him past, then merged back into the overtaking lane. he slowed down and pulled me over, and basically abused me for driving in the overtaking lane when I wasn't overtaking (I was). The way he was talking to me you'd think I'd been running over grannies. He was a fucking cunt. $120 fine and 1 point. I told him I was not aware that you could only be in the right lane for overtaking, and that I'd moved out of his way as he seemed rto be in a hurry. he just continued to talk down to me like i was a piece of shit
another time i crossed a road before the light went green (walking)
later fown the road I was accosted by 6 'Public Order Response' (basically the riot squad that patrol melbourne on a weekend and make sure noone is doing dodgy shit)
it took 6 of these heavily armed cops in full riot gear to book me for jaywalking. i was laughing at them about it "guys its taking 6 of you to book me, come on this is bullshit" which made them threaten to lock me up for drunk & disorderly
my ex-flatmate got maced by a cop at point blank range while he was in his car, working, (suit & tie job, he values properties) because he was parked ina no standing zone, the cop tried to talk him into getting in a fight with him, which my mate refused, th cop got more and more worked up eventually macing him.
i could go on, but i'd be here all day

The US supreme court already ruled that the police aren't here to protect and serve the citizens. Don't know what its like for the rest of the world
I'm way too drunk to search this shit, but I'm sure someone else can find it pretty easily or prove me wrong, I dunno.
I've met a lot of cool cops though, so I don't really agree with your opinion. There are however a ton of power faggot cops that seriously get a trip on making people cower and shit themselves, or even go so far as beating them/killing them.
The world is fucked and it aint just cops, im also sure it fucks with a lot of cops when they have to deal with shitheads all day long

I think that any cop who abuses their power should be murdered in the most horible fashion, tortured slowly. because they're put in a osition of power where they are supposed to look out for people, once that right is abused they deserve the worst punishment, on par with pedophiles
