Is it usual for shrooms to turn blackish after drying?

I left a lot of cyanescens shrooms out to dry on a paper towel for 72 hours and they are looking very dark compared to how they were when wet. Is this typical? Is there something I want to looking for and avoid eating on shrooms? Or are they all safe to eat? The reason I'm asking is because I did about 3.8g of them dry and they were really blackened compared to when I picked them and it made me violently ill towards the end of my trip (puked out everything in my stomach, and continued to gag for half an hour w/ my stomach empty). These other ones I picked turned blackish too so I can only assume it's typical, but why did it make me so ill?
Is airdrying for 48+ hours enough for me to throw them in a plastic bag?

you left a bunch of shrooms out in the contaminant ridden air for 24 hours to rot. Get a dehydrator if you want to safely dry things for consumption.

They will smell pretty bad too, and that can help to confirm that you dried them wrong. Cyans will turn black when they rot, like Gravija said.

if you air dry them, you need to use a fan to keep the air circulating over them and speed up the process... i would allow at least 72 hours, and typically more... then you can move them into a bag with prepared desiccate sacks to finish it off..
Im not a fan of using dehydrators for actives, they usually run too hot. -but they get them cracker dry in under 12 hours usually.

have you ever eaten cyans before without getting sick? if so, at that dose?
Could just be that you are having a hard time stomaching them.
Depending on where you pick them, they might have been sprayed with herbicides... -Common in urban areas.
Or, it could just be the rotting that made you sick

I have eaten cyans before without getting sick. But that particular dose I took was 3x larger than any dose I've taken before.
I've heard plenty of people using dehydrators, but I've also heard just as many people doing just fine using a fan and air drying them. I left them out for longer than I thought I should because the last shrooms I put away ended up getting moldy (weren't dry enough).
I have another supply I had put away and it looks like it wasn't dry enough either. It looks like it's about to collect mold, but hasn't yet. I'll try to put up some pictures to see what you guys think once I'm off work.

Here they are. Anyone want to point out the tell-tale signs of rot? Should it not turn back underneath the caps? I haven't dried shrooms before until they're completely dry. I typically eat them by the time they're half-dried.

Looks ok... How do they smell? I suggest using at least a fan I blow air over them
Or cut them up if you don't have a fan... Just in like 1/4... Don't go crazy
