CocoCoir monotube needs CASING?

Hi!
After a lot of PF TEK, I want to move on and make my first a monotube. I will make Coco Monotube with 6 pf cake (P.C. Pensacola > it has ryzomorph myc). After I mix Coco/Vermiculite with the crumbled cakes should I casing it? Or i have to incubate it without casing ? And after a few days if i will see mycelium on the top layer i should patch it ? I dont want to get overlay and i dont know how can i prevent it... thanks for the answers!

I've done cakes to coir and wasn't disappointed.
I've kinda messed with casings and in the end I think that I am one of the people that considers them to be more effort than they are worth. Cubes fruit fine without casing, maybe if you an experienced grower a casing will boost your yield if you know what your doing. All it takes is trial and error and persistence.
I didn't use casing layers on mine, but whenever I spawn I always put a top layer of substrate with no spawn as a protective layer or whatever, usually like a 1/4 to 1/2 inch on top.
Don't worry about patching, just give it fresh air and mist once its near 100% colonization. Make sure your colonization container has a good seal but not airtight; GE keeps colonization moving.

Casings are useless with Cubensis, and none of this has anything to do with a tube. It's a tub.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.

You're gonna want a smaller sized mono for this. You're gonna want to spawn those 6 cakes to at least 3qt or 4qt of pasteurized bulk substrate for a 1:2 or 1:3 spawn:substrate ratio.
That'll equal out to roughly 5.5qts of substrate volume you'll be working with, so take roughly 5qt of field capacity substrate and measure it in different tubs to see which tub holds about 5qts with 3-4" of substrate thickness.
Don't bother to case cubes unless its PE strain(thrs some arguments on this). Dont worry about patching, i havn't seen some of the best growers from nowadays do it and neither do i. Just spawn the tub, let fully colonize at room temp in ambient room lighting, birth the tub when fully colonized, GENTLY dab up excess water poolage and tub walls with paper towel, stuff holes with polyfill adjust thickness, and fan a few good times daily with 12/12 6500k flourescent lighting. I dont mist until 2nd/3rd flushes with cube monos since there is plenty moisture in the first flush.
