jackpot of gymns possibly
    #19031921 - 10/25/13 04:21 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

After a day of dissapointment yesterday, I came across a little hill with atleast a pound of what looks like gymnopilus.
Dear god I hope it is xD

But
There is blue and green bruising ALL OVEER THESE THINGS! I kid you not. These things are screaming active everywhere.

But there is large white spore deposits arround the area which is killing my vibe.

Stem length:2-5 inches, thickness: 0.5- 2 inches, wider at the ring, visible grain going length of sttem
LOTS of green blue bruising.

Cap: diameter: 3-5 inches: color: caramel brown, little hairs. overhangs gills about 1mm

Gills: yellow to golden, close, 3 tiers attached, wider in center

All found growing out of birch trees and their roots. Lots of mulch and leaves around, moss is present.

Sorry bud, I'm pretty sure those are all Armillaria (Honey Mushrooms).  They will stain dark colors like that when they age.

Armillaria.  Your last pic looks a little on the orange side. Take a spore print of that one. If Armillaria it should be white.

You can see white spores on the caps in your pics 3 & 4.

Okie dokie

I'm really wondering about the bruising though.

I thought armallaria isn't active?

And I saw these things bruise up like hell

That's a common feature with A.mellea as well as deadly Gallerina and some other mushrooms that are not active.

It had a greyish brown cap, about 2 inches wide, extremely conical..... stem was about 2 inches long and 1-3mm thick
Gills not attached

Growing off rotting log

Growing in huge groups all over the place

Not Pan cinct or anything active for the last two pics.  I wanna say Conocybe but I'm not sure.  Nothing you wanna eat anyways.

Are you sure the greenish coloration is bruising (i.e. a response to damage) rather than pre-existing coloration?
