chopping and drying
    #1902876 - 09/10/03 04:30 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

Does anybody know if chopping before drying decreases potency, or should they dry first, then chop?

Thanks,

-ZTPH

Chopping will increase the rate of oxidation, which will decrease the potency of your shrooms. However, it will also decrease the time it takes to dry the shrooms, which will decrease the amount of oxidation that takes place: if you have an extremely effective dessicant chamber, I woul recommend chopping them first. If not, then after.

Chop them to make them smaller for something like tea, if one wishes.

dry them first...keep them whole for storage...and chop them right before use...alternatively you can grind them into powder and use this tek to store them...

Larger fruits take longer to dry...I used to cut the large mushrooms (7-8") down the middle and fan dry...never noticed a potency decrease.
