Galeroid, Ovoiderina or just a funky ovoid?
    #19031335 - 10/25/13 02:15 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Two very differently colored ovoids I found right next to each other.

I really thought the one on the left was a galerina. It was predominantly orange colored, the edge of the cap was a dark brown and it seemed to be dropping rusty colored spores. The veil ring is very prominent as well... But, it was clearly blue.

After washing, it shows normal bluing. The other one shows off the chart bluing. (Greening, really)

I still don't completely trust it. Could ovoids hybridize with galerina?

Looks OK to me, but when in doubt throw it out, it's not like you don't still have pounds of that shit left over from this spring.  :lmafo:

For shits and giggles you should print it on foil and see what the spore color is.

It is the color right along the margin of the cap that has me very confused.

Are you spreading the ovoids to your new neck of the woods?

He looks ok to me. Maybe a bit abnormal but nothing outside of expected variation. That's some crazy blueing on the other one.

At least I think my ovoids are galerinas, and not the other way around.

:ruggedwink:
Yep, although I've already found some cyanescens and started spreading those around as well.

They will print after being washed, give it at least 12 hours.
