Just wondering. I have a master jar that's been colonized for a good week of something I already have some tubs of. I have a master of another variety catching up and don't want to overwhelm myself with spawns that I don't have anything todo with for a little bit, and want to take a go at the not quite done master as they are different varietys and switch it up. I wanna keep this master jar on the back burner so these others can catch up and I can g2g then spawn them. then g2g this master so I can finally try having a cycle of something always colonizing while other things are fruiting and be able to just harvest, toss, And spawn again.
Anywho, I was curious wether or not I should break up this master before putting in fridge or just leave it be how long I should be good before I have to g2g it again.

No need to shake before going to the fridge.
You should be OK to wait for at least a couple months, and likely much longer than that - most tissue culture maintenance teks reccommend transferring to new media and undergoing a short grow cycle at least once per year. Pretty much all metabolic activity stops below 10C, so you have plenty of time while your other tubs finish up. Keeping a running master is a great idea!
If you're thinking about longer term storage (up to a year), think about making some culture slants. The biggest reason is that even in your fridge, that jar may eventually pick up contaminants. Slants are easier to keep sterile.

i've had good luck storing master jars in the fridge for weeks.
Dont shake first it will weaken the myce.
Make sure your fridge isnt too cold so they wont form ice chunks in them

Culture slants are the plan. I'm waiting for an isolate with a great flush, or cloning to agar and seeing how that performs.
I still have some reading upto do on slants, as well as waiting for that perfect culture to make one from.
