Drying with actual fruits?

So I use a dehydrator to.. well.. dehydrate my mushies. My question to you all is this: If I put some fruit, like slices of mango, on the bottom tray of my dehydrator, will that flavor be "infused" into the mushies somehow?

So that is a "no" from you, fatflash? I was thinking the aromatics might get trapped within/stuck to the mushroom bodies, much in the same way other smells stick to other things (think cigarette smoke.)

Smell and taste are inextricably link; you cannot change smell without affecting taste. Thanks for your input!

The smell would not be deep inside the fruit body at all in fact after they are in the bag for a while the smell will completely go away I bet

when u dehydrate mango or oranges the smell goes away almost completely. i dont think it will work because the moister from the mango wont go to the mushroom.

It may a little if you aren't using a heat&air dehydrator. Cigar humidors cause the cigars inside to exchange flavors in some ways, because moisture (which carries scent/taste) is caused to exchange in and out amongst the cigars and their wraps. You could get some of this to apply to mushrooms and fruit if you dried both together in at-length and pointless ways, air-drying in chambers and finishing them off together in a desiccant chamber. I bet it still wouldn't be noticeable compared to fungi funk.

Now that's the ticket! Best way to consume IMO other than in the raw(I think they taste like Pumpkin seeds)

Or eat them fresh. I've heard they're a bit more potent (not so sure about that) and that they taste better fresh from the pickin'.

They are more potent when fresh cause they have psilosin still in them which is oxodised when dried.

I always thought they tasted worse fresh than dried but it tastes the best in capsules and kicks in fast cause its already powder dust easier to digest fast.

Next batch for me is going to be smoked mushies. I can put some eels under them to make them really taste like something special.
